V8 Beast
What are the cons of the conversation as all I'm seeing are pro's everywhere. If it were you would you get a new lower dedicated to this or just swap out with a 5.56/.223 upper as you go?
stangsn95gt
I'd just get a the upper to start with and depending on how much you shoot it possibly build a lower for it later.
Scotty2Hotty
What are the cons of the conversation as all I'm seeing are pro's everywhere. If it were you would you get a new lower dedicated to this or just swap out with a 5.56/.223 upper as you go? I would see no need to dedicate a lower to .458. All my rifles have a 2-stage LMT trigger, which is night and day compared to a factory AR trigger. I would dedicate a piece of glass (CCO, scope, ACOG etc) for the upper. It's a great hunting round with plenty of real world characteristics as in kinetic energy. Sub 200 yards, it's a hard hitter. Don't expect to find ammo at Walmart. V8 Beast
Thanks guys. I'm used to ordering and waiting for ammo at this point.
Craig
Have you looked at cost of ammo yet?
V8 Beast
Yeah, costly just like every other round I buy
Craig
Even the 50 beowulf is much lower cost
Nate1647545505
My brother bought into 458, I chose 50 Beo - they both sit in the safe. I have a smidge under 100 rounds on it; 400 gr eats things alive. Not much practical use, but dont mind the room it takes in the safe. I've heard of some of the cheaper lowers having their pivet pin elongated after heavy use, but don't have any issues with my setup.
V8 Beast
At this point I figure I could drop 10k on my car and race it 4 times a year. Or spend $3k on guns and shoot weekly.
