Is it possible if i buy a car here in ohio to register is under my business name? if so what is the process? i do not want it registered to me personally. Turbs3000 Posted December 23, 2012 Report Share Posted December 23, 2012 Yes, it will normally have to be considered a commercial vehicle though which has higher reg/tag rates but they aren't horrible. Also, you are supposed to then insure it through your company as well. "Registering vehicles used for hire or principally in connection with an established business: If the vehicle to be registered is to be used for hire or principally in connection with an established business, the BMV will obtain the vehicle owner’s federal tax identification number (TIN) in place of the driver license, state ID or Social Security number. Couriers for licensed motor vehicle dealerships registering a motor vehicle on behalf of the dealer must present their driver license or ID card from any state of the United States or province of Canada OR, documentary proof of the courier’s SSN as per the BMV Acceptable Documents List as well as provide the TIN for the business.
