Dr. Apex
That is actually quite sharp. Can I get one from the dealer like that??
10phone2
farkas, you would be more familiar with this area about 4 cylinder toyotas and club4ag is down. -can a 22r bellhousing be used to get a w58 behind a 3s-ge? if so, what clutch, flywheel etc would it use? -what does a 7age 20v normally dyno at? Farkas
Jesse, I don't think any combination of the 22R belhousing will work because of starter and ring gear alignment issues, as well as starter placement. The spacing would be off for the input shafte as well so something would have to be customized to make it work. Is there a reason you're trying to go with a W58 instead of the J160 that came with the IS200s? I've seen some pretty healthy 20V 7AGs dyno at about 180whp/180wtq with a decent tune and very mild cams. But if you're deciding between a Beams 3SGE and a 20V 7AG, the Beams is such an awesome motor with the dual VVTI, but you're going to have a hell of a time finding parts and making it work in a lot of cars. 10phone2
The reason why I am looking at the w58 is because the engine will likely be swapped into a cressida which is heavier and the w58 bolts in so making engine mounts will be cake for measuring. Also, the engine will definitely be boosted so I am doubtful the J160 could handle the weight in combo with boost. The mx83 has a 52/48 weight distribution and the car would be mainly for corners when I have the time since I already do have a mx32 cressida that is being setup for strait line fun. I'm realistically not looking to start the project till fall, but I may as well do some research.
Farkas
That's a pretty interesting swap to put a 4-cylinder in such a big-bodied car.. I like the idea Have you considered possibly a 2RZ and the like?
10phone2
Believe it or not, it would be our second family car. Our neon is cramped with 3 kids. So the wife will be 100% on board with a car that is safe and handles well.... I did look at the 2/3rz since they do bolt to the w58. The problem is that the dam things are heavy and the savings in weight wouldn't justify not throwing a 1uz/2j in there. Sooner or later I'm going to have to put to use my dismantled 1uz in my garage. 10phone2
I'm still up in the air, but we'll see. I'm just up for different projects.
