copperhead
Your're in a midwest mindset. Down South is literally Nazi Germany. New Mexico is the Southwest, not the South. Not quite the same. Maybe some shitty dog that the Sherrif Bubba Joe picks up at the pound, but no actual police dog is trained to fake a hit. None. Feel free to watch the entire thing, or go to 3:40... More http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=police+dog+false+alert&sm=

buelliganx1
Again, they are not trained to do that. LJ with all due respect your friend may not train dogs to do that but he or she is not the only person in the country that trains dogs. It would be incredibly easy to train a dog to alert to armor all, air fresheners, McDonalds, anything really. As a bystander you only know that the dog is alerting not what it's alerting to. Again, any accredited trainer will not train to do this. The dog that Sheriff Bubba gets from the pound may be trained to do it. A dog's nose is not infallable. That is the bigger issue here. They are not trained for "fake" alerts, but you cannot prevent any "false" alerts. The dog's are also now being trained to alert on scents of things commonly used to cover up drugs, such as mass amounts of paprika.
buelliganx1
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that good cops (that are trained by accredited schools) are not trained to give someone multiple rectal exams and enemas in order to find drugs but these guys did just that. Now that being said if they are willing to do this it's not a big leap of faith to conclude that they would use their dogs as a tool for their inappropriate behavior. So in other words if there is a bad accident at the track and someone is injured and someone on a forum is claiming that whoever built the cage in the car did it wrong. Coming on and saying that a professional chassis builder would not have done that doesn't really mean much. Ok "they" wouldn't have done that but "who" built it and would "they" do that. Thats all I'm getting at.
