Radio goes out. Not a fuse problem?

2007 Hyundai Azera. I would say every 2-3 months the stock cd player/radio stops working. Nothing lights up on the headunit and none of the buttons respond. None of the fuses are blown I checked them all inside the door and inside the engine bay. I replaced the car battery and the 10 and 15a fuses for the radio. The inside fuse box has a 30a main fuse. If I pull that for 2 seconds and put it back in the radio magically works for another few months. Rinse and repeat...

Ideas?

1) unit is going into 'protect' caused by an external short

2) unit has a failed internal component, that resets/drains in the absence of power

3) unit anti-theft apparatus is activated by an intermittent connection
