Website Hosting Question

Based on a conversation at work...

Who would you use for purchasing a domain name and hosting a business website? I think my 2 biggest factors would be reliability & cost.

GoDaddy? NetworkSolutions? FatCow? AmazonCloud? Yahoo small business?

I found this little tidbit:

Thoughts? Suggestions?

TIA

I use Google Domains for domains now. I can send you an invite if you want. Privatization is free with Google. Interface is clean and I am so glad to be migrating away from GoDaddy.

For business hosting http://www.liquidweb.com has been decent for the past 8ish years for me. They have a ton of different solutions and they are out of Michigan. Support is really responsive.

For personal use http://www.asmallorange.com. 10 years with them.

Buying a domain name = Whoever gives it to you cheapest (namecheap/godaddy).

Hosting is really about what you need, and what you are willing to pay for.

Shared server? Load? Transfer Rates?

Dreamhost offers some pretty dirt nasty cheap services, but they are all shared and have limited throughput. If it's a truly small business (Something you run out of your house) you won't really care.

Ive used around 400gb in traffic before, maybe a bit more when I share stuff for others to download. They have never said anything.

I host LOTS of stuff for people, and have done tons of transfers as well.

The only thing they balk at is if it looks like storage, they will give you a notice then delete the folder.
