bmwohio
Hello, I'm back again for this annual cancer ride. Since the last time I rode in 2013, my friend has put his Stage 3 cancer into remission and is cancer free as I type this! He had been diagnosed with Stage 2a-3b Lung Cancer after a Pancoast Tumor about the size of a doughnut was found in his lungs. Our family friend who put his prostate cancer into remission, unfortunately has had it come back.....In fact, he was planning to come to Columbus from Atlanta to do the ride with me, but he will not be able to do that. Most of the time its hard for any of us to do anything, except pray for someone to get better..... First, THANK YOU to everyone who donated in the past, I greatly appreciate every dollar you donated! Well, I'm trying to take to raise even more money this year and every little bit helps me get one step further to that goal. I am riding again in an event called Pelotonia (pelotonia.org). I rode this event back in 2010 with my wife for the first time, and it was one of the most humbling and amazing experiences my wife and I had ever been apart of. I also rode in 2013 and many of you helped me with donations to raise a total of $2,275!! Each rider is tasked with raising money for cancer research, all of the money raised is used to directly support cancer research conducted at the Comprehensive Cancer Center—James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC—James) at The Ohio State University. This link also talks more about how the money is used --> http://pelotonia.org/about/money/ The last time I rode, they had raised a total of $43 million dollars in 5 year, and that number jumped to $82 million in just one year. I have pledged to ride 100 miles this year from Columbus to Gambier, OH and my goal is to raise $1,800...... At the end of the day, I feel like this is the least I can do to try and help my friend battle something that most of us have been affected by in our lifetimes, and we truly can't imagine what he is going through right now. If you can't donate financially, please just say a prayer for a really great guy who is on his way to a hopeful speedy recovery. Thanks for reading. If you can make a financial donation, please do so at my profile --> https://www.mypelotonia.org/riders_profile.jsp?MemberID=71373 (Click in the upper right corner that says "Click Here to Donate to My Ride") Here are a few pictures from when my wife and I did this ride back in 2010: Here are a few from when I rode in 2013: With my wife and son Celebration dinner that night with friends and family

Zx2guy19
Good luck man, I'll be right there again this year. I ride for LBrands- I joined the company 9 days before Pelotonia last year and road 50 miles, may do 100 this year. I'd donate, but I have to raise my own funds, ha! Thanks, good luck to you too. 100 miles is no east feat. The last 10-15 miles are quite hilly, so be ready.
944s2
Great cause, I love riding also, does your son participate yet? If not just wanted to throw this out there as I have a 2 1/2 year old that we just purchased this for this year at Christmas. It's amazing for long rides and he can help/sleep/eat/drink easily. http://rideweehoo.com/
bmwohio
No, he doesn't go with me yet. We do have a Burley Bee http://www.burley.com/shop/images/2014_bee-on-bike-21-transparent-bike.jpeg And I have taken him with me on training rides before. He fell asleep on the last long ride I took him on. That thing looks really cool though! Thanks for sharing
smokin5s
Great cause! At my last job, I would work it every year... unfortunately, my new employer doesn't offer that anymore or I'd be all over that!
bmwohio
**Well, just recently got word that our good family friend who is fighting cancer RIGHT NOW, has signed up and is traveling up here from Atalanta, GA to do the 100 miles with me for this ride!! So, God willing and he has the strength, he will be right along side me for the 100 miles in August...can't begin to describe my emotions right now** He has already raised close to $4,000 in 2 weeks, and has put my fundraising efforts to shame. If there is anything you can donate to this cause, it would be greatly appreciated by more than just myself..... If you can't donate now, I understand, just bumping this up.....Thanks! Here's my link again to donate (just click in the upper right corner of page) https://www.mypelotonia.org/riders_profile.jsp?MemberID=71373
bmwohio
Alright, folks....less than a week away and I'm getting pretty pumped for my 100 mile ride this weekend. My friend will be driving up on Friday from Atlanta, GA for our ride together. Just got some of my gear in the mail last week. Couple of more posts this week, perhaps to keep the fundraising going. Please consider contributing to this very worthy cause, and if you can't contribute financially, prayers and well wishes are ALWAYS welcome! You can donate here --> https://www.mypelotonia.org/riders_profile_edit.jsp?MemberID=71373
