Hello,

Amplifier can be bought right now through Amazon for $173!!! Usually it's $250+ - This will allow you to add any desktop GPU you want. Very nice future proof add on.

$1,000 - Price is firm. I have retail box and manuals that came with. May consider partial trade for lower end gaming laptop, have a friend looking for a low budget one.

i'v owned 4 Alienware Laptops in the past and this is the generation that always felt a little...meh... I could have swore these things shipped with a minimum GPU of a 970m, but i'm not 100% sure on that.

I still can't deny that it's an awesome laptop. I can't recommend this more for a gamer on the go. If you can pay the money, buy the amplifier for this thing and slap a GTX 970 in it. You will have very happy with the results =)

I agree with you somewhat. Most of the issue is is the technology hasn't changed too much. Improvements from sandy bridge all the way to skylake hasn't been what we have seen in the past. But in the mobile world, the i5 has always been dual core with HT, so this was a good jump forward with being a true quad core. And video form last gen to this gen has been pretty much the same just rebadged pretty much. These did come with gtx 965m and it's a big improvement over the gtx 960 in terms of performance, would be nice if they all came with min of 970. Another big step forward is as you stated the ability to add an external card via the amplifier. As we all know, mobile gpu is no where near it's desktop counterpart.

Anywho, this would make an excellent traveling laptop with the ability to have a larger screen with the amplifier and make a kickass desktop at home. {:o)

Good point in your post. My first Alienware was the generation just before Dell acquired them. I then moved on to an M17x R1 with the anodized aluminium body and a GTX 260m =)

I'v had an M11x R1 and a M17x R3 with a 7970m (beast of a GPU)

Anyone who buys this Alienware will be very happy. Invest a little more money into the GPU amplifier and you honestly have a laptop that can go toe-to-toe with a good amount of desktops out there.

Best of luck with the sale man :-)
