What have you built this winter? Here's my first of the cold season: Details are: Aero Precision SOCOM Blue 15" M-LOK M5 builder set Rise Armament RA-240 3.5lb trigger with titanium fasteners Brigand Arms carbon pistol grip V-Seven titanium ambidextrous safety selector V-Seven titanium magazine release Aero Precision lower parts kit Lancer Systems A2 carbon fixed stock w/Luth A2 buffer tube Tubb flat wire buffer spring Fluted 22" Ballistic Advantage 6.5 creedmoor barrel V-Seven titanium BCG and firing pin V-Seven titanium port door and rod Radian Raptor tungsten gray ambidextrous charging handle Area 419 Hellfire brake Superlative 0.936" adjustable gas block Stainless rifle length gas tube I anodized the raw titanium components a nice teal color to add color contrast against the dark SOCOM Blue. Next will be checking head spacing (gauges arrive today). Provided it passes that test, it will be time to test fire it and inspect for any abnormalities in its operation. Once I'm confident in its function, it will be time to purchase a bipod and scope, and begin learning about distance shooting. So, what have you guys built this winter? My wife shot me with it from about 10 feet and it left a small welt. Hurt like I'd been stung by something. Should be over 200 fps muzzle velocity. Obviously the plastic parts can be printed in any color you want, and some people go wild and create really crazy designs. The hardware kit is nothing crazy, but there are lots of odds and ends parts to make it all work. I chose the easier route of just buying a parts kit from him on his Etsy store. He sells everything from front and rear parts kits, to complete kits with 3D printed parts, to assembled blasters. There is a version for MEGA as well as traditional darts. There are several choices for springs as well depending on what kind of muzzle velocity you're looking for. He even has a Color Configurator page so you can design your own color pattern and see what it will look like when it's completed. He has a version for Rival as well, which are the foam NERF balls (smaller than a golf ball). Looks like some clubs have written rules into their games for blasters like this. Either they have outlawed over 200 fps, or set rules like you can't shoot someone within 50 feet. I do know that 10 feet stung. I still haven't gotten a scope for it, just printed some "iron" sights for it. I have shredded a couple of the standard blue and orange darts. I picked up some AccuStrike darts, but I haven't tried them in this blaster yet. I need to find someone with a chronograph so I can measure the muzzle velocity. Mine is one of the Magnetospeed style that you strap to the rifle barrel. It's not a Caldwell that uses the shades. A caldwell would work as well as a labradar I assume. With a spring swap the fps gets down more to a manageable level that you won't hurt someone with a point blank shot. Jelloman4571647545499 Posted February 5, 2020 Report Share Posted February 5, 2020 The build looks great, Alex. 22" is the optimal length for 6.5 creedmoor in the AR platform. I have multiple grains if you need some for testing. AR's are very particular when it comes to 6.5c so find a grain that it loves and buy a lot. Or contact Copper Creek and do load development and then they will give you a discount on the rest. So far I have built a 14.5 gun, a 9" 300 blackout, Ruger American MDT build, redo my suppressed 9mm AR and getting my 11-87 rebuilt.
