Fort Macon visit

It is and could have really spent more time there going inside the visitor center that closed at 4.30,the fort area and other exhibits were closed from Hurricane Florence but will open next year.

 

You can imagine the routine they had was pretty boring but were kept busy by doing patrols drilling and such,sleeping arrangements were pretty tight.

Very cool. Wish I'd known about it while my BiL was stationed on LeJeune. Would've def driven there. We drove down to the Battleship North Carolina one time. Loved touring it.

 

I need to visit that ship, I drive by it a few times a month. I visited the USS Wisconsin in Norfolk VA and the USS Yorktown in Charlestown SC years ago. I really need to go back to the Yorktown, its an amazing tour, last time I went nearly all the ship was open.
