'Arrested Development' Movie Will Shoot This Year, Says Will Arnett

281x211.jpgBack in December, "Youth in Revolt" star Michael Cera told us that the long-awaited "Arrested Development" movie would hopefully shoot sometime this year. If you're a fan of the unjustly canceled TV series, then you probably scoffed at the news as yet another empty promise from one of the show's former cast members before getting back to your "Don't Cancel 'Better Off Ted'" Internet petition.

Now we've got another former Bluth promising that cameras will roll before the book closes on 2010. From no less a personage than Will Arnett, who plays schemiGeorge Oscar "Gob" Bluth II, the clan's scheming eldest sibling. Speaking to ComingSoon.net at the "When in Rome" junket, the gravelly-voiced comic actor said in all seriousness that "the plan" is to start shooting before the end of the year.

Let's be clear. Chances are very high that we won't actually be seeing an "Arrested" movie in 2010. As Arnett said, "We are working on the movie right now, yeah... We don't have a completed script yet, but it's forthcoming and we're going to make the movie this year."

It's possible that the script could be finished in time for a summer shoot. And since "Arrested" isn't exactly the sort of movie that requires an extended post-production schedule, a late fall '10 release isn't necessarily out of the question.

I think it's more likely though that cameras will roll summer/fall, for a winter/spring 2011 release. Assuming all goes to plan of course. Unfortunately, plans can't always be trusted where "Arrested Development" is concerned. As any fan will attest, the life of the series has been an emotional roller-coaster ride. Fans and castmembers alike still want the movie to happen, but there have been too many letdowns to put a ton of faith in Cera's and Arnett's promises. I'll keep hoping though.

I can't wait, Arrested Development was the greatest series since Seinfeld. Maybe even better.
