garysol1
What does this REALLY do?Found this on a nerd site..."Tries to simulate the simple joys of talking over CB radio on the highway. Just call in and enter the number of a highway and you will be entered into a group chat with other people traveling along the same road." Disclaimer
No, I get that part... but I think it's a trap.OTOH...More digging says that the 866 number is registered to Twilio which does make it seem more legit.
Disclaimer
Here's another App that uses the same number, but different PINhttp://govcall.com/Edit: Found a bigger list of all the Twilio Mashups on that 'nerd site' gary read that fromhttp://www.programmableweb.com/api/twilio/mashups Edited February 4, 2010 by JRMMiii
snodgrass23
It probably is legit, likely a proof of concept for a larger idea. But, how likely is it that anyone else on your highway calls in at the same time so that you get anything other than an empty conference call, unless you knew someone else would be doing it at the same time. Would be cool if you had hands-free in your car. It would be like a hands-free CB. And if you had a few people driving somewhere together in a few different cars, would be an easy conference for everyone.
InyaAzz
You need GPS for that. Someone build a 'conference' system based on GPS location!
Disclaimer
I could see using it as a free conference call service, regardless if you were actually traveling or not... tell everyone you're on highway/channel 435 then everyone can join the same call... unsecured though.
