The Suzuki RE-5 rotary-engined touring motorcycle is the ultimate achievement in motorcycle design, engineering and workmanship. The RE-5 is powered by a unique liquid-cooled NSU-Wankle type 497cc Suzuki rotary engine specially designed and improved for motorcycle application by Suzuki Motor Company Ltd.

In the short period of just three years Suzuki engineers were able to design and apply the basic efficiencies of the NSU-Wankle engine to a sophisticated yet simple 62-horsepower motorcycle powerplant.

The rotary engine's fundamental operating smoothness is a natural asset for a touring motorcycle. Suzuki's new Mikuni 18-32 HHD two-stage carburetor and unique port valve system prevent exhaust gasses from mixing with the incoming fuel charge, for cleaner and more complete combustion. And Suzuki's use of CEM, a special new hardness coating, protects the rotor housing from wear for long engine life.

The Suzuki RE-5's self adjusting three element apex seals seek and hold the exact tolerances along the inner rotor housing for efficient engine operation. Suzuki's smooth and powerful rotary engine is mounted solidly on a double downtube frame. No rubber bushings are required for the RE-5 to deliver virtually vibration free performance.

A 59-inch wheelbase makes handling the Suzuki RE-5 a pleasure. In city traffic, or on the open highway, the Suzuki rotary motorcycle responds quickly and easily. A unique dual point ignition system ensures smooth ignition during acceleration and deceleration. Gears in the Suzuki rotary's five-speed transmission are wide and evenly spaced for cruising and touring.
