Ferds are junk, we've got 2 here at work, 250, and a 350, both gassers, 250 is a 2 valve, 350 is a 3 valve. Both junk. at 20k miles they both needed full steering replaced, Neither of them have ANY power. can't pull the utility bed around let alone with anything attached or in them.

I've worked on cars since I was 7 in my dads shop. Thats how he paid the bills, wasn't some half ass mechanic. I've worked on them all, from fords to Porsche's. I've owned everything american and some foreign. All I'll own is GM. If you believe anything in a commercial your stupid.

Ford claims to be able to pull 11k lbs, but it has smaller brakes, and less HP than the toyota. Advertising BS? Maybe just a little. I'm not even going to start on the POS 6.0 Diesel (head gaskets, cam sensors at random), or the new TT diesel thats going oh so well for them...

Dodge makes a good truck, mainly because of the Cummins engine. There front ends used to be junk hopefully they've fixed it by now.

GM makes the best Truck IMHO, I know I'm wrong and yada yada yada.

Oh, and Ford only out sells Chevy trucks. If you combine GMC/Chevy sales then as a whole GM sells more trucks. but by the letter, i guess they're right.... I guess

I never really had a problem with Fords till I owned one. My dad had always told me to buy GM, he's worked on cars his whole life I should listen to him. Well I bought one, an 87 Cougar XR-7, 5.0, auto (wen't offered in stick) replaced the quarters, trunk lid, door skins from the moulding down, repainted it black and silver, had a red interior. car was BEAUTIFUL. But it's the main reason I can't stand Fords. What I learned from that car, and how much money and time I put into it was amazing. and everyone I talked to about the car just seemed like it was normal and I should accept it. Had problems running, started replacing sensors that tested bad, used good stuff from NAPA or Advance or where ever was convenient every time it broke. You can ONLY use FORD sensors in FORD vehicles. even the top of the line bosch sensors will not work. Thats pretty messed up huh? I spent over 500 dollars in overpriced FoMoCo sensors to get the damn thing running. Then tranny died in it. later I come to find out that those older AOD's, died at ~110k miles. without warning. I couldn't even find one in a junk yard that was good. they all laughed at me.

I've got a friend who's a die hard ford nut, has an older 92 ford F150 hes CONSTANTLY working on. Loves his fords though. I've got a 96 GMC 2500 HD with the 6.5 Diesel in it. spend 300 dollars on an optical sensor 2 years ago, and aside from fuel and oil, haven't spend another dollar on it since.

the 2004 F250 we own, the sending unit died on it. local parts shop? nope. dealer only item. in stock? nope, special order. Give them the vin, they give me a sending unit? Nope. they needed to know the wheel base, 2 or 4 door, extended or super cab, how many tanks (apparently they use 2 different sending units, one if its a single tank, and a different set if there are two tanks) where the tank was located, what month it was built.

And this is not bull shit. this is honestly what I had to go through to get a damn sending unit for this POS.

sending unit in my sisters Grand Am went out a few years ago. I went to the back of my shop (at home not at work) and grabbed one I had out of an older S10 sitting on the shelf. Guess what... IT FIT. and worked perfectly! amazing...

Oh, Not to mention Fords ride like shit. My 1 ton GMC rides a hell of a lot better than my friends (that ford guy in the above post) 02 4 wheel independent suspention Explorer. He even admits it every time he's in my truck. and it's nothing fancy, basic interior, steel wheels with beauty rims, and E load range tires, stack of leaf springs in the rear about 6" thick.

The two we've got here at work will give you kidney damage on long trips!

Very few, it was a 78 911 i believe? I was pretty young, about 10, all i remember is it was rear engine. My dad was painting it for some guy, also did a full frame off on the same guys 63 split window vette. He's a Dr. around here. My dad was pretty famous around the vette crowd, he hasn't painted a car in almost 15 years, but he still gets at least a call a year from someone with a vette wanting him to paint it. We don't get along to famously but Fuck, that man can paint a car that would put any of these so called hot rod shows to shame.

Yeah, They've got head gasket issues. Also a MAJOR one is the Cam Position Sensor. this really sucks because when it decides to go out. your stuck. Period. no getting around it your gonna need a tow truck.

All I can say is RESEARCH what your going to buy. And look at ALL your options. The Tacos are nice trucks. no doubt about it.

What are you looking to spend? Diesels are usually a few grand extra over there gas counterparts, but also get much better milage.

I want to stay under 15000. I can usually talk people down some. I really want to spend 12000. Im just having a hard time deciding on what to get. Its hard to find a 2500 Diesel... with 150k miles or less. I would love to get the yota cuz they are my favorite trucks. But for the extra power to tow shit, and the fact that the gas mileage is the same, I wouldnt mind getting the diesel.

I know 150k isnt alot, but thats the point. I want to be able to get a good 5 years out of whatever I buy. I guess I will start looking at some dodge cum trucks too. I didnt know if they were good or not. I really dont know alot about diesel. I have been working on cars for close to 10 years as a hobby, but Ive never messed with a diesel cuz I have never had one.
