chevysoldier
Putting my order in now. On a side note, why don't we have the daring and crazy test pilots of the 30s/40s/50s? No more Chuck Yeagers, just test dummies.

redkow97
there needs to be a practical military application for such a device to really drive the R&D.other than, "it's really fucking cool," I see no advantage to this over conventional aircraft. Seems that the pilot would be extremely exposed to the elements, as well as enemy fire. Now if there's some tactical advantage with small spaces, maneuverability, etc., it might go over with the military. Imagine pulling out an injured soldier below one of those things. That would be pretty sweet.
fizzer
That's not a jetpack, it's a ducted fanny pack! But in all seriousness, pretty cool development, just need some safety options for under the operating ceiling of the chute ("something" tells me falling from 1000 ft. will still "hurt")
VanDy
I like this one much better, biggest downside is you have to deploy from somewhere high, airplane, hot airplane balloon etc...
