ReconRat
A rather good read with a rather different view of history. Since history is largely revisionist (changed to suit the desired results), it's up to the individual to decide where the truth is actually hidden. Articles like this one about Second Amendment rights, from the Atlantic Magazine tend to help discover those hidden truths. The Secret History of GunsBy Adam WinklerSeptember 2011 ATLANTIC MAGAZINEhttp://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2011/09/the-secret-history-of-guns/8608/3/?single_page=trueThen scroll down to the comment from Patriot_70 and read it all...Patriot_70I believe you've missed the mark on your story. See, the 2nd amendment does not grant anyone the right to bear arms, period. What the 2nd does is prevent the government from taking that right away. So what grants the right in the first place? You'll not find it in the Constitution, or it's amendments...(description of what the federal government is allowed to do...)...Where do gun laws fit? The Power was not granted to the federal government. That power was not granted by the people to the state, then that power to own, keep and carry weapons REMAINS in the hands of the people, ALL of the people. The 2nd amendment? All it does is say, keep your hands off, it is not your right to regulate. Edited August 12, 2011 by ReconRat
