demitrix
Thinking about trying my hand at building a bike. I'm looking at creating a frankenbike I guess it would be called since I have no better name for the class of bike. Something similar toHas anyone around here done a similar project and have any input? Source for parts, pointers on swingarm/triple tree swap, etc?I may not post all photos from this project in this thread but I will try to keep them all stored in this album.http://s136.photobucket.com/albums/q195/demitrixrd/CB/ Edited September 7, 2012 by demitrix

magley64
I'd say start with a frame that has a clear title... go from there.
demitrix
I'm looking at a Honda CB as a base for the project, they are cheap and readily available so if I bail on the project I'm not out a lot of cheddar. From what I've been reading GSXR triple trees bolt up pretty painlessly, my largest concern at this time is the swing arm.
magley64
I got 2 old CB's with clear titles $500 OBO each, you haul...one is a 79, the other is a 77engines ran (not necessarily well) when they were parked, they have varying degrees of rustbut if you need a frame with a clear title you can take all the other parts that i still got for free. demitrix
Depending on how the one I'm looking at now goes I might get in touch with you. The guy wants <$200 for it so that's a little lighter on the wallet.

Mary#17
This is my husband's bike. It started off as a CB360. Lots of people on this site use the CB's as the basis for their builds. You might find some good info there. http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=29626.msg318260#msg318260
demitrix
All he did was cut things up, there were no real mods to the frame or suspension.
