In general, motorcycle boots that offer the most protection are not the most comfortable. High end, highly protective track oriented boots are fine for race distances, but they’re not the type most people would want to wear everyday on their commute. This is where the Sidi Cobra comes in. It’s a boot that is comfortable enough for street riding, without compromising too much in the way of protection.

The Cobra is in the middle of the Sidi range, and it comes in three different versions - the standard Cobra, Cobra Air, and Cobra Rain. All three versions retain enough features from higher end models like the Vortice, ST and Vertigo that they are able to provide very solid protection. Both the heel and toe are heavily reinforced, with replaceable protectors on both. Various molded protectors are also found on the shins and sides of the boots in order to absorb and deflect impact energy in the event of a fall. Sidi’s patented Vertebra system is in place on the rear to protect the vulnerable achilles tendon. It is made up of two pieces that slide together to not only absorb energy, but also provide flexibility. This flexibility is one of the aspects that makes these boots comfortable, but it is not the only one.

The interior of the boots are lined with a teflon mesh that is spaced out to allow pockets of air to sit between your foot and the outer layer. This not only gives it a plush feel, but helps keep your feet at a comfortable temperature. Elastic stretch panels are found in both the calf and running parallel to the zipper. This means that the boots will be even more conform to a wide variety of foot/leg shapes and they are easy to zip closed.
