Riders Discount is getting ready for its next bike build! We'll be building a 2012 Suzuki GSXR-600 in full Supersport trim in preparations for the AMA Road America event June 1-3. Our very own Brian Gibson, CEO and owner of Riders Discount, will be dusting off the boots for one last national event.

Many of you have seen our prior builds with the AMA SBK Yamaha R1, BMW S1000RR, as well as our Triumph 675. We always provide you with high-res pictures and detailed commentary on parts used and what we're doing within our build threads. What's unique about this build versus our previous bikes is that we'll be livestreaming the entire build on Ustream - Riders Discount TV as well as detailed pictures and posts. You'll be able to follow along in real time as we hurry to get this bike built for testing and final preparations in the few weeks before Road America.

Be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for direct links and announcements when we'll be going live.

Part 1:

Last spring, we decided to take a brand new Suzuki GSX-R600 and build it to AMA SuperSport specifications. The majority of the work was completed over a three day period at the RidersDiscount.com HQ, where we streamed it live on the web so that anyone could check in on the build as it progressed. We also took plenty of photos that we thought we’d share with everyone here, whether you caught the live-stream or not.

The starting point was a brand new, 2012 GSX-R600. Here’s how it looked for a very short time before we went to work tearing it down.

And here’s the finished product.

A lot of work went into the bike between those two photos, and we’ll be giving you a more detailed look at the process very soon. In the meantime, here’s a timelapse of the build from start to finish. (click the photo below if the animated gif doesn't load automatically for you)

We don't even have the bike yet but work is already commencing on it.

Here's a sneak preview at one of the colors Andrew Swenson is laying on the bodywork:

So are you putting in new swingarm and steering stem bearings? I couldn't really tell what was going on with the swingarm and you mentioned the steering stem was being "serviced". If you are changing them, what are you going with? And does that include new wheel bearings?

-Edit-

Now I don't see anything. Did you guys stop work on it or something?

Bah, missed the teardown. I was looking forward to it too, but slipped my mind.

No worries! We'll be back live again tomorrow. We have until this weekend to pretty much get it all done. The only thing different will be a built engine for Road America, we'll be running stock until then.

Yes, sorry we had to call it a night after 7 straight hours of working. Man's gotta sleep you know ;)

We are going to tear it completely down to frame and engine for inspection and maintenance. While Suzuki is a good bike straight from the factory, there are a few tricks and trades to make it better for our intended purpose. We aren't using new bearings, simply regreasing the ones that came from the factory with something a little better for racing.

EDIT: looks like we're still "live" somehow... sorry about the confusion on that one guys.
