  1. Hello all. My name is Erik. I'm a Virgo, I enjoy breezy walks, french fries, flowers, and sappy movies. What ever.... I was on here years ago, but I forgot my name. So I get to start over I guess. For the moment nothing I own is fast. Then again All I own are VW's. How fast could they be?????? Married with Debt up to my arse, and three rockin' kids. First up is my DD. I just picked it up. 89 Jetta GLI Helios. Little beat, and lots of amateur at best mods half done on it. Nothing that can't be fixed easily. For now it's running the stock 1.8 16V, Aftermarket exhaust, slammed on coil-overs. Perfect DD.... Amazingly 40 MPG so I'm not gonna complain too much. It's one of 1500, and I've always lusted for one, and now I have it. Or as my wife says: Now you're stuck with it... http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w351/Pats16Valve/Wolfgang/109.jpg Next up is my project car. 85 Scirocco. I bought it last summer as a toy from Colorado. Zero, and I mean Zero rust on it. Bad paint and haggard dash. I highly recommend buying cars from out west if you can stand it. This is the first winter in the salt. And it will be its last. Plans are for fresh paint and interior this spring, and next year a Turbo'd 2L 16V. Not sure what kind of suspension I want to go with. If I do any sort of racing with it, it'll be Auto-X. I really don't want to spend a whole lot of time messing with the chassis. The K.I.S.S. principle is going to be vital here. This is really meant to be a budget project, Run decently, and look nice. But who knows. I refuse to go the played out Euro bumper and lighting, stretched tires, and Iron Cross', or checkerboard roofs or hoods. I thought that was cool for about ten minutes. http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w351/Pats16Valve/Hasselhoff/055.jpg Then there is clearly the nicest car of the group. My wife's 69 beetle. 99% done. I'm trying to bring myself to finishing the motor. Maybe she'll leave me alone if I finish it..... Really it's a great car, just finding the time and dollars to do it right is tough. In the end, I want it to be better than original. http://i523.photobucket.com/albums/w351/Pats16Valve/Alrich/003.jpg I've also got a 97 Golf Trek complete with the rack and keys, and a sled of a 04 Dodge Durango, and a 87 GMC short bed I lovingly call Hector.

  2. Noone is going to help you until you follow their recommendations first. You can play the guessing game by replacing parts haphazardly but that gets expensive fast and rarely fixes the problem. Did you pull the pre-cat o2? Did you pull the plugs and take pictures? Did you get a long bolt or stethoscope and listen for ticking at each injector? Did you put a fuel pressure gauge on it, tape it to the windshield and see what happens when it breaks up? Pull a plug wire one a time at idle? Did you pull the vacuum line off the fpr? Did you set the idle the proper way with a service manual or at least how it is supposed to be done on a miata? Do you really want to fix this problem or just complain about it?
