I know of cops where I live, that get stone cold drunk every weekend, and drive home drunk every weekend. Their buddy cops don't pull them over, cause they know their car. My friends dad is a cop, that little sticker over the rear license plate helps, every time he takes his car, he speeds and never gets pulled over.

who makes aftermarket bike transmission parts
12oclocker replied to 12oclocker's topic in Tech and Tips
I'd really like a supermoto I can hit the interstate to work, and stunt in the parking lot at work too, lol. I guess the WR250X is still the best bet for that even after regearing. -
who makes aftermarket bike transmission parts
12oclocker replied to 12oclocker's topic in Tech and Tips
I know, I've thought about having a machine shop custom make me a gear for the transmission, but who knows how well that would hold up, probably no where near as good as a stock one. I'll probably just get the WR250X, and regear it, It'll at least hit 70's geared the way I like. -
I went down at 60+ on a turn, and my frame sliders saved my engine. bike slide on the side and chewed up the slider, engine side case was fine. If I didnt have my sliders, it would have surly ate through the side of my case, probably bent my crank, and destroyed my engine.

gift them, no reason to pay tax AGAIN.

I wanted to know exactly what gearing I had to gear a new 09 WR250X to make it exactly like my CRF250X in first gear, then I wanted to be able to calculate what the top speed would still be (estimate) here is what I did.... 09 wr250x gear ratios (from service manual specs) 37/14 2.642 1st gear 29/16 1.813 29/22 1.318 26/25 1.040 24/27 0.888 22/28 0.786 78/25 3.120 primary reduction (crank) 42/13 3.231 final reduction (sprockets) CRF250X gear ratios (from service manual specs) 65/18 3.611 primary reduction (crank) 54/14 3.857 Final Reduction (sprockets) [stock sprockets] 48/14 3.428 Final Reduction (sprockets) [hard to circle setup, but more speed) 48/12 4.0 Final Reduction (sprockets) [easy to circle, perfect setup) Gear Ratios 1st 2.384 (31/13) 2nd 1.750 (28/16) 3rd 1.333 (28/21) 4th 1.041 (25/24) 5th 0.814 (22/27) For my optimal setup, I found a final ratio of 34.434 for a 250cc engine was the optimal ratio for a typical supermoto wheel. Final Ratio was calculated using.... "primary reduction" * "selected gear ratio (1st gear)" * "Final Reduction" In order to obtain the closest possible ratio on the WR250X, I found I would need to regear the bike -1 +8, or (50/12 [4.166] for a final ratio of 34.346) This reduces the wr250x top speed from 95mph (estimate) to about 73mph (estimate) though. (stock final ratio 7.923 estimated top speed around 95) (50/12 final ratio 10.218 estimated top speed around 73) my CRF250X geared 48/14 could hit 75mph and had a final ratio of 10.077 my current optimal parking lot gearing has me at a final ratio of 11.757 and a safe top speed of around 58mph. So now I'm up in the air about getting a WR250X, it'll still be faster than my current bike, but not by much. Takegawa makes a 6 speed transmission kit for the CRF100's but I cant find any info on the CRF250's I wish someone made a aftermarket kit for the bigger CRF's, I'd like to either have 6 gears, or a custom lower 1st gear, or higher 5th gear. anyone know of anything out there that may exist?

thanks guys, jeans huh, lol

I'm sure he will be riding with everyone

wow, I can buy a new seat for that. I just keep using plyers to push in the staples by hand, lol.

I talked to Nick last night, he's been sick as f'k I guess. I don't know when's he's coming back to the forum. You'd have to know the details of why he's not on the forum anymore, there's a lot more to the story, but anyway its not my place to discuss peoples personal stuff so I'll just leave it at that. Nick's a good guy, other than being sick, he's doing good.

yeah that was scary, I squeezed the shit out of that handbrake, and it wasn't doing anything, not a good felling flipping over backwards when your sitting on the handlebars, lol, man I'm lucky I didnt get seriously hurt on that one, lol!

here's a pic of the side of my exhaust... I'm gonna try to make something out of aluminum, I'll let you guys know how it goes! thanks for all the tips!

I have not had this a straight parking lot bike long enough to have carbon build up, its only had a few parking lot sessions so far. If it was carbon build up on the exhaust side, why are both exhaust valves out of spec the same amount, and wouldn't I be getting some leakyness, since the carbon would be keeping the valve from seating correctly, thus it would act the same as a partially open valve, I should notice some power loss, ect. I also know the bike is not burning oil.

stunt only, some street.

right, its not cotton thread, its really strong, synthetic crap, not sure exactly whats it made of, but its hard as hell to break, you cant break it with your hands, you have to cut it with scissors.

I think the sewing machine cost around 200 at walmart, I got it for the wife a long time ago, its just a standard one, she never uses it, I always end up using it for all kinds of crazy stuff like this, lol. I set the stitching pattern on the machine really narrow, so the stitches are a lot stronger than the oem seat was.

thanks, lol, thats my downstairs I remodeled, I still haven't figured out what to do with the downstairs, it used to be a recording studio for my band, but since my band broke up, I bring in the bike to work on them in the warmth, lol!

I figured out recovering a dirtbike seat is HARD work, especially if you buy the vinyl material yourself, I bought thicker material than the stock seat, which made is extremely hard to stretch over the seat, I traced the stock seat sew pattern, and sew the vinyl with the same pattern, another tough part is the staples, no electric or manual staple gun I had would penetrate the hard plastic, I had to push each staple in by hand with a pair of plyers. I like the black much better than the stock red seat. here's some pics... finished seat my seat cover design... stock seat cover...
