  2. If you are talking about fullsize trucks, then it's probably because of several things. Fuel economy which sucks to begin with, lack of handling abilities, and because they are so big it's difficult to manuever and keep within the lane. They have their uses, and rarely is that use to go fast. Compact trucks are a different breed though, they tend to handle much better (except for rangers, those suck at everything) and are all around easier to drive. When I had my compact truck with 17" wheels I drove like I was on a racetrack. My fullsize I usually drive kind of slow. I try not to floor it to get up to speed, but I'll cruise at 70 if traffic will let me. I've had it past 100 a few times, but it doesn't feel very stable up there. Something you need to remember is that not everyone on the road looks at driving the same as you. Most people are only trying to get somewhere without getting into a wreck or pulled over, and so they aren't trying to drive fast. You've got your old retired guys that can't read the roadsigns driving trucks, workers that are paid by the hour and are in no hurry to get to wherever they are going in their work trucks, and you have your average joes that are hauling something or just going to work that have no desire to hotlap around 270 like they in some sort of rocket car. If trucks driving slow bothers you so much, then maybe it's you that needs to slow down or quit driving before you go road rage on someone.
  3. I'd also like to mention how much fun it is when IE crashes which causes windows itself to implode. And seriously Anthony, a picture of a middle finger? You might as well join in the debate on who is gay, that's about the highest level of debate you'll be able to bring to the table in this thread.

This is a temporary solution and may cause certain sites to not work. In order to make them work, you'll need to add those legitimate sites that needs to have Active Scripting working to the trusted zone in IE. This is not a simple or desirable solution but it is the only solution that Microsoft gives you as a temporary workaround. This IE6 vulnerability is serious enough that Microsoft should immediately create an out-of-cycle patch before the next monthly patch and spend less time lecturing about Apple's missteps. Microsoft was forced to release an emergency patch for the WMF vulnerability in January. Waiting for next months cycle for a zero-day critical flaw is unacceptable.

  8. My company sites don't work under FF, but to be fair, they barely work under IE. A 12 year old could have designed a better site, but that's not the arguement. I must be the only person on earth that has never had an issue with FF. I have a habit of leaving windows open for weeks at a time (last time I rebooted, my computer had been on for about a month), and it never causes problems.
  9. If I wanted absolute stability, I would use Linux. However, I have enough sense to not install shit software that causes instability under windows. Oh, and stuff has to be made "user friendly" for idiots that have no idea how to use a computer. Sometimes I miss the old DOS days.

  12. There's some good info here already. A couple notes, Glow plugs are only used to start the engine. Once the engine is warm, the extremely high rate of compression causes the fuel to ignite, think detonation. They are very inefficent when cold, thats why many semi's don't get shut off unless they are going to sit for a day or longer. Light duty trucks usually have block warmers so you can plug it in at night. Low compression diesel engines can rev higher, but aren't as efficient. That's why diesel's make massive amounts of torque, but not so much hp. The higher the compression, the stronger the burn, the more force applied to the piston to push it back down. If you aren't getting enough compression in a diesel, you could rev it to the sky and it still won't help. http://www.truckinohio.net/filedump/mike/Cumminsrod1.jpg As you can see, diesel trucks have huge internals. This is another reason why they don't rev very high, that shit is heavy and hard to move. The Cummins has the largest pistons and rods, and it's an inline 6. It's also the most powerful and reliable of the three, but I would guess that it has the lowest redline. I would GUESS that the Powerstroke rev's the highest, but it's also the least reliable of the three. Diesel can't be run rich or lean, it will detonate either way. That's why they love boost. However, more fuel to a point helps out too. Too much fuel is just a waste, however it won't hurt the engine in the least. Diesel's don't need backpressure like gas engines do. I'm not sure how the valves work, or the injection for that matter, but I do know that you can't get too big of an exhaust pipe on them. I think it's also a cleaner burning fuel, diesel's only started being required to have cats within the last few years, and it was because the diesel used in America is high in sulpher. Europe doesn't have that problem. If I think of anything else I'll add it later.

  16. To get a manual tranny vehicle with a bad starter to start, turn the key to the on position, get the car rolling maybe 5mph, put it in first gear and pop the clutch. If nothing is wrong with the vehicle other than a bad starter or dead battery, the car will start right up.

  18. Last time I went through there it was a posted 55 through that whole stretch, once it becomes a four lane divided out of Nelsonville. Has that changed?
  19. From what I understand, there are only something like two or three breeds that are like that. She's definately not one of them. And she is so nice to people that I can barely imagine ever having to worry about it.
  20. Another thing, the highway in WV is mountainous, if it's windy through there watch your speed so you don't get blown off the road. Ohio cops are everywhere, WV you don't have to worry so much about.
  21. Interstate 77 is the best bet, but how you get there is up to you. If you are like me and get bored with running cruise control in a straight line take 33 all the way to Ravenswood WV, where you get onto I77 South. I take 33 a good bit to go to Marietta, but I've never been on it past Athens so I have no idea what it's like. Your other option would be to take I70 East and then jump onto I77 South. If you go that way it's about 3.5 hours, I have no idea how long it would take if you use 33. I can't help you with navigating Charleston though, I've only been through there a couple times. Watch the signs though, I know that at one point you have to get into the left lane to stay on 77, but it just depends on where your exit is at. Charleston is no where near the size of Columbus, maybe a bit bigger than Lancaster, so it shouldn't be that big of a deal to get around.
