you are a very rare exception in this regard sometime I need to talk to you about all of these asset protections. I don't have much in the way of assets but I'd still like to protect what I can.

Its neat how 200 some years of "Merica has changed 2,000 some years of history So here's a downside to being married - the couple has financial problems, for whatever reason. Being married means your credit is tied together, so rather than just having one of the two file for bankruptcy, allowing the other person in the relationship to salvage their credit and still be able to buy a house/car/whatever is needed, they both take the hit no matter what and are both fucked for the next 7 years. That's not a benefit. Most married people I've talked to say that there is usually little if any benefit to filing taxes jointly, and they often go back and forth. So that's not really that huge of a benefit. Also, lets say you have a sole proprietor photography business that your wife has nothing to do with, and your wife has a lawyer business that you have nothing to do with. You get sued for everything you've got because you accidentally ran over a kid playing in the street. They can also try and take your wife's business since the law sees you as one person. If you weren't married, then your wife couldn't be touched, and you would still have her business as a form of income. I'm insuring my gf through my insurance, listing her as my domestic partner. You can't do this in NC now since they passed their anti gay marriage law which also wrecked the whole domestic partner thing, but it works here so I use it. Hospital visitation rights? If you tell them such and such is your partner then I doubt they will be calling the state to see if you have a valid marriage license. Orphanages used to be run by (gasp) churches, which again used to also be in charge of marriage. So I'm willing to bet that if they saw you as being married, regardless of legal status, and you appeared to be responsible adults, then they probably would not have had a problem with you adopting a child. A marriage license is yet another form of taxation. It also employs a lot of lawyers. Skipping the legality of marriage means each partner has to work a little harder to keep the other happy or else it is easier to leave, instead of saying "oh now that we are married I don't have to try any more since its such a pain for you to leave, I have you trapped". It means if things do go south, you have to be more willing to work with the other person to work things out instead of just throwing a lawyer at them (which could still be an option, even without the legal part of a marriage). Child support is a good idea - often not implemented well. I agree that it is necessary and would be simple to either agree upon, or could be disputed in court. That is simply an issue of looking at the numbers, and would benefit from having some sort of a formula added to the books to keep disputes to a minimum. The problem with child support is that all too often it isn't actually used on the kids. I'm not sure what I think of alimony. So yeah, any supposed "benefit" of a legal marriage isn't really so.

no shit, it's lasted centuries without laws needing to interfere, now all of a sudden we have a government that has to prove that they are worth keeping around so they come up with law after law after law that we don't need. Marriage is a religious institution, let the religions take care of it however they want. Keep the government out of it.

It's the best phone until the next best phone comes out. So either get it now and be happy or wait for something else and be equally as happy

another vote for the Ender's Game series. I think they are up to 10 or 12 books now, with a movie scheduled to come out in a year or so. Hunger Games series is also good. I've been working on Atlas Shrugged for a while now, only another 150 pages to go. It's a good read

You know, if I want my internet connection to be secure I'd talk to an IT professional, not some 80 year old in congress that can't find the speaker jack on the back of his Packard Bell. Just like if I wanted to find a way to stop criminals from murdering people I wouldn't be talking to Jack Hanna over at the zoo, I'd be talking to someone in a country thats actually safe, like Switzerland.

Joe, have you tried using a different computer or something? Is this just happening on your phone? I've not heard of anyone else having trouble with the board.

I looked it up, I'm wrong

You know the issues with the car you have now, if its not rusting to pieces then whatever is wrong with it can be fixed, why take your chances with unknown piles of shit that can and probably will be worse? Why do you think people are eager to trade them away? Because they are junk, most likely. For what its worth those cars look like hack jobs, I've been burned buying a car owned by someone who thought the car was better off lowered with stupid wheels and stupid wings and a stupid exhaust, it meant they spent all their money on that crap and none of it on maintenance. Do yourself a favor and stay away from old (poorly) modified crap, or anything that says "project" or anything that is claiming to have lower mileage because they replaced the engine or anything with rust since its doomed to not be safe for much longer. You know your car is burning oil. Someone has already given you a good lead on what to check for the cause. Do what he said, if it needs fixed then fix it. If that doesn't fix it, take the new engine you have and get all new gaskets for it and replace them all, along with a timing belt. Then hop on to youtube and look up a video that shows how to do the swap, I promise you there will be plenty of videos to choose from. Working on a car is more about motivation than know-how, unless you are stuck troubleshooting. From what you have said in this post, it sounds like you need to take a serious look at where you are in life and where you want to end up. I'm really not trying to be a dick here, but it sounds like you are young and trying to get started in life without any family support to lean on, and you are already trying to raise a family. Your priorities should be (in this order) 1: kids welfare (stability in the home, food, healthcare, etc) 2: wife finishing school in the shortest time possible and entering the job market 3: living arrangements 4: job 5: reliable transportation 6: recreation. I'm not even going to list savings on there, as that is out of the question until you have more income. You may also want to consider coming up with a way to not have any more kids until you are in a more stable situation. So for the time being, realize that most people go through a part of their life driving a shitbox because they don't have any money to spend on something nice, and just do what is needed to keep it on the road. I'm driving a car I paid $500 for and I have no complaints at all. It doesn't have to be fun, or pretty, or fast or even comfortable, but needs to safely get you and the family around and nothing more. Trading around all the time will mean paying the BMV every time you want to get your plates switched, screwing around with insurance, and falling into something that may be way worse than what you have now. Get it to where it's just good enough, then worry about your woman and kids. If you need help with the car, ask in the tech section, people there are very knowledgeable and willing to help. If you need life advice feel free to ask in the Parking Lot section. There are a wide range of people on here, all with different life experiences to share. There's more to life than what you drive, and when you are trying to stretch a dollar then that should be a low priority.

http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=104097 If it sells it sells, if not I'd be just as happy seeing how this has been one of my favorite vehicles. I just drove it to DC and back yesterday, did great. Its got 102,xxx miles on it now, and I'm still driving it here and there but not as a daily. I've got spark plugs waiting to be installed, just haven't had the time. I will say its in great shape, no dings or dents anywhere.

hey look, a problem that can affect any vehicle with a solid front axle happens on the most popular line of solid front axle vehicles sold :dumb:

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/07/26/obama-talks-limiting-some-gun-use-in-wake-colorado-massacre/ Harry Reid says there will be no gun control discussion this year. So if anything goes through, it will be slipped into another bill like mentioned in the other article I posted. Adding it to the cybersecurity bill, which is already despised on its own. This looks to me to be an attempt for the dems to say "we tried something and it was defeated by those evil Republicans" when the truth is, its being stuck in a bill that nobody would pass anyway because of how much the powers of the internet are pushing for this shit to get tossed away. They never intended for it to get passed, especially like that. Oh, and its funny that Harry Reid cites having too busy of a schedule. I was in DC earlier this week and got to go into the Capitol building. I sat in the House and the Senate galleries, and out of either room the only thing I saw was McCain talking to himself (about cybersecurity). No other Senators or Congressmen in sight.
