Being a cop means he should have had the proper training. If he has and he disregarded it then it is 100% his fault and he deserves to lose his job. If he didn't have the proper training, its his department's fault. But in the end its still has fault for being an adult and disregarding common sense. Also, he should lose his kid to child services for hauling him around without being in a car seat, let alone leaving a loaded gun where the kid can play with it.

Plenty of civilians have died in war. Sometimes that's the side effect of stopping the threat. The media claims that as soon as the cops showed up the guy laid down his guns and surrendered. He obviously didn't want to die. Had he been in a place where a couple people could have had CCWs instead of being in a Criminal Protection Zone of a city, then he probably would have surrendered to them just as quickly, averting much of this tragedy.

The guy may have been doing something inconsiderate but that doesn't change the fact that you drove into the cable. That being said, the incident happened on private property, so cops won't get involved. The track makes you sign a waiver, so they aren't liable. I really doubt the other guy's insurance would cover it since the other guy didn't drive into you. You could try calling your insurance and attempt to get it covered under uninsured driver, but good luck with that. Most likely they will have you pay your deductible and have it covered under your collision policy. Put yourself into the other guys shoes. If you were trying to winch your broken car onto your trailer and someone drove into your cable, possibly causing damage to your car, winch and trailer in the process, would you at all consider taking the fault? I wouldn't, I'd be pissed.

If you visit m4carbine.net they will say Colt and Daniel Defense are the only two brands allowed to be owned. Since not everyone out there is a real operator like them, pretty much everything that goes bang every time and doesn't feel like its going to fall apart is probably alright. That being said, I'm still very wary of polymer receivers for the AR platform, I don't think they will stand up to much abuse. Maybe in another 5-10 years.

From the article: sounds like they spotted the guys bike and ASSUMED he was in whatever place it was parked in front of. Because apparently its not possible to walk somewhere else. I think if I were wanted for murder and trying to hide I wouldn't have vehicles registered to me anywhere near where I'm hiding, sitting out in plain sight.

There's always the possibility the cops went in with a shoot first, ask questions later mentality, then added the victim's gun to the scene after the fact (throw down gun). This story doesn't really add up.

This gives me the impression they weren't in uniform. If I look out the window and see the person that knocked isn't someone I know, then I don't open the door. I got tired of salespeople long ago, so I don't even give them the chance. I probably wouldn't open the door to a cop either, I wouldn't want them shooting my dogs.

because there aren't many to be found. Iran is trying to troll the superpowers out of being able to sell arms to anyone. The NRA noticed that the way it is written would require sales records turned over to the UN so started their normal protest of erosion of gun rights. Nobody in our government has actually come out and said anything, and its being supported by Amnesty International and a couple other groups nobody has heard of. Sounds like talks of this nature have been going on some time, seeing how its reported that Bush told them to fuck off, and Obama is interested in talking about it but hasn't committed to anything. Obama has already done a lot to piss off the blue collar/union voters, and doing anything to hurt gun ownership will be a finishing move in that sector so he probably knows that he can't do anything about guns, at least not until after the election at which point, according to what he told the Russians, he's free to do a lot more.

BUT, they can still be found to be unconstitutional. So if a treaty disarms the general public, it will be found to be in violation of the second amendment and therefore unconstitutional. They only way to legally end gun ownership is the repeal of the second amendment, or a new amendment claiming the second amendment to be void such as was done with prohibition. The only way they can get around this is to regulate things to the point where while it would be legal to own a firearm, it would be impossible to get one like how it is now in DC. You will note that the Obama administration is staying silent on this matter, it is being pushed by third parties.
