  1. yeap! i concur! a few years ago, I had a motorcycle that was stolen from an underground parking lot of a large apt complex that I lived at...it was awful..we were all ready to leave for a Grattan track day and just needed to load up the bike..we go to the garage spot and it was empty. Had one of those brief insane moments of "is this where I left my bike" and hoped that I actually parked somewhere else

another time, I was parked on the street one block away from work (MetroHealth Hospital on the west side). After work, I went to start the bike and go home, the ignition was all scratched up, someone jammed it pretty good so that my key wouldn't fit and start my bike

I called a friend who came by with a small truck. Since the ignition was locked and handlebars turned, we couldn't roll the bike. He grabbed a closet rod from his car (the kind that travelers use to hang clothes in their back seat), slipped it in the front wheel and my husband and a local cop (I called the local police to come so they wouldn't think I was stealing my own bike) both took the rear and boom, not less than 15 seconds later, the bike was picked up and in the truck out of sight

I was shocked how quick and easy it was and will never forget..later I asked the cop where the best spots were to park that were safe for my bike and they let me park in the garage where cars can't fit..told me the best spots that thieves would not go (top floor, furthest corners where there is only one way out and take a long time to get out)..that worked for the rest of the time that I was there

  2. I'm really glad to hear the interest...i can try to do it again sometime if there is more interest..will keep OR posted if that happens..the more the merrier..and safer..

my husband is fussing at me for calling this an orientation so here is a clarification..i apologize that we are not doing a group ride after the workshop...the workshop is pretty much open to anyone who rides so that they can enjoy their group riding experience no matter who they are riding with...i'm willing to lend the curriculum out to anyone who wants to do it before a group ride too

there is a dvd with group riding scenarios and group worksheets in a meeting room environment...it should all take about an hour..it goes over what to expect from a ride leader and from riders...

i used the word "orientation" in the sense that we are at the beginning of the riding season to appeal to new riders and refresher for the experienced rider..and again for any rider to go out and enjoy their group ride no matter who they ride with...

let me know if anyone has any questions :)

  4. He did it once to me, he was really mad I didn't wear a rubber :(

    LOL!!!

I don't blame Kosmo for being mad especially since he is "not normally like that". Safety is not really something to be joked about.

    Good job, Kosmo! Thanks!!

  5. Greetings!

Please share this with your members and friends ASAP. Let’s make this a fabulous event!

Mark your calendars for Saturday, Sept. 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. That's when the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum in Pickerington, Ohio, will open its doors to visitors from near and far for a free day of family fun, community and motorcycles.

The AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum Open House will start with free admission to the facility's world-class exhibits, including MotoStars: Celebrities + Motorcycles; Awesome-Ness, featuring the work of the King of Choppers Arlen Ness; and the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame. The day will include something for everyone: motorcycle demo rides, a fun zone for kids, a bike exhibition and more.

In addition, nearly 40 vendors from the Central Ohio community are expected to be on hand, offering up both local cuisine and flair. Companies interested in vending can contact Toni Shoap at tshoap@ama-cycle.org or by phone at (614) 856-2222, ext. 1340.

Join the fun at the open house and help out your neighbors at the same time. Bring in your non-perishable food items to support the Food Pantry of Pickerington and receive an entry into a drawing for a “Museum Basket” door prize! For every non-perishable item you will receive one entry, so five items = five chances. Let’s really step up and help out the Food Pantry, so they can help out the folks in need during tough times. Learn more at http://www.pcmafoodpantry.com.

"The idea is to kick back, enjoy the day and make it a special time for our neighbors in the local community who think motorcycles are cool, whether they ride or not, or just want to know more about this great destination here in their own backyard," said Museum Operations Manager Katy Wood. "With a full slate of activities -- and the world-class AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame at the center of it all -- you'll find plenty to like. Plus, you can't beat the price!"

Make plans now, and see you in September.

  6. Your parallel twin isn't making any power on the bottom end. You need to rev it to the moon to get it's juices flowing. That' date=' and take it on a better road. It's a good bike and deserves better from you. :nono:[/quote']

so sad to see a bike go to waste

give the bike to me :) i'll make sure it's happy :)

  7. I've raced my Corvette at Nelson many times, but I've never been there on my bike. I'd be interested in trying this, but I don't have the first clue as to what I'd need to do it. Do I need full leathers? I have a riding jacket with protectors built in but no pants. Is a stock street bike ok for beginner tracking or do I need to do some mods? Thanks!

    Hi toolman,

Each organizer has their own rules for preparedness so rules will vary. Read this for fasttrax:

    http://www.ridefasttrax.com/trackdayb.htm

Per link above, you don't need full leathers but you do need pants that attach to the jacket. Stock street bike is fine - see "Motorcycle Preparations" in the link above.

    HTH

  8. Haha....by bones are good, shiny and lubed....;)..are you guys going to be there on August 15-16th......then we will stop by for sho.....

no sorry, just the 14th (Friday evening) but our good friends, Leanne and Bert will probably be there, I think they are racing..some other friends, Sandi and Kyle are just doing the track time...I think you might remember Sandi?

And then the other usual assortment of riff raff racers will be there....

  9. I might have to do this with my bike... would be a lot of fun

yeap, it is a lot of fun, the most fun with your clothes on. The regular school (full day) is $150 in small group environment. Honestly, that is a reasonable fee especially if you are close to Nelson Ledges. Saturday, August 16 and Saturday Sept 12 offer the full day beginner level track day.

And yes, there are many other organizations that offer instruction...STT, Mid Ohio, other tracks, etc etc.

  10. where have you been guys....missed all of you a lot....any race days coming up ???....gimme me a howl.......I am missing the pit slavery.....:(

    How's is the baby doin....I didn't had a chance to see him/her either :(

take care and say hi to Dorjan.....

ha! Kosmos! how the heck are you and your bones!! I have been wondering about you as well. We haven't done any racing this year because our racing money has gone to daycare :bitchfight: and well, i hate pumping at the track (baby is getting the boobjuice ) etc. etc. and no, I can't race and bf at the same time, sorry, I'm just not that talented and honestly, nap time is probably impossible with all the noise at the track. Crying babies are not fun. It is race weekend on August 15-16 so do feel free to just hang out :) We still reserve our first rights for your indenture but I hereby release you temporarily to help others in need :)
