I kinda thought that was a "givin" since that last time your rode with me your wrecked your bike, broke your finger and got a ticket. I know, the ticket was kinda my fault.
-
Yeah a bit , amazing how fast you come up on someone going "average speed" when you're travelin that fast.
-
Just got back in a few minutes ago, that was a blast man, we will definitely need to ride together again, except I think you might be bad for my health I had just told you I don't like doin that crazy shit on the highway and there I was, having a blast doing it! I was doin 125 when I came up on the ass end of that Crossfire on 161. Did you happen to notice that the guy drivin that Dodge in the left lane on 270 that looked like he was tryin to block you was a cop of some sorts! 715 was a blast, I wish it was just a little bit closer but still worth the drive! I'll take a look at the video later tonight, once I have a chance to edit it I'll put it up on my youtube page (link below). Nice meeting you today, nice ridin with you. I had 172miles when I pulled in the garage.

Glad you guys had a great ride and everything turned out well, that's always good to hear! Funny seeing that picture of Tom's KZ amongst all those sportbikes.
-
I'm looking to ride in about an hour or less. Just fixin some lunch. Got the bike all washed and waxed. I'll pm you my number.
-
I can't afford all that right now, just happy to have a working external again, I'll work on some redundancy tactics later.
-
New card is installed and works like a champ! Was easier to install than I thought, didn't have to do anything except plug it in and install the drivers. Picture resolution is now set @ 1330x768 and is crystal clear! I'm very happy

Just got back from dinner and a trip to MicroCenter, picked up a e-GeForce FX5200 AGP for $45 with a mail rebate to bring it to $39.99 http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0291885 Gonna go see about installin it. BTW, I also picked up a Hitachi 1TB External HD for only $79! I love that store almost as much as Iron Pony! Actually I think I like the both the same
-
For now I'm gonna stick with an external drive and doing some periodic dvd backups. I just got back from MicroCenter, couldn't pass up this deal, got a Hitachi 1TB External HD for $79 on sale!

Hey now, I've had a couple PowerSpec's and I've like them all, I don't need some monster pc to take over the world, just need it to run some pretty basic stuff For the record, this is the one I have... http://www.powerspec.com/systems/archives/system_archive.phtml?selection=6342&submit.x=23&submit.y=10 I've upgraded the ram and added a floppy and second dvd drive, and I think its on its second hd.

Definetly want to stay with what I have at the moment and just fix the problem. Thinking about this one... http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0233708 Where do I find out the supported resolutions? I looked up the manufacture site for the one I listed above, its listed below here but I don't see resolutions listed... http://www.arcadefxusa.com/GF5200FX128.php Well I'm gonna go to MicroCenter tonight and see what they got in stock and ask a bunch of questions there, I'll take my model number info for my pc with me and have them check my specs and stuff to, I got the pc there, its a PowerSpec, forget the model at the moment.
-
Bingo! Thats exactly what I was thinking, not that I'll ever need it but at least it will be open. The pc is already a little on the old side (by todays standards) and I think I have the latest drivers for it so I guess I'll try a cheapo basic AGP card.
-
I have a new one, after spending the last two hours with a maintenace guy that has a thing for saying..."alrighty and oh yeah" to about everything, after a few times I wanted wring his neck!
-
Agreed. And that is my problem, I stopped making cd/dvd backups when I moved everything to the external. My bad
-
Let me just say I really don't even want to consider changing the motherboard, if it comes down to that I'll just end up buying another pc. The symptoms... with the old LCD before it stopped working I was getting some noticable deterioration in the quality of text on the screen, like the text was moving or distorting a bit, figured it was the monitor. Then the monitor died. I temporarily used my wifes monitor (the exact same brand/model) until I got a new one, text quality was still iffy while using hers. Got the new monitor, found out that my current video card would not produce the "preferred" resolution of 1336x768 (guessing) or something, all it would do was 1280x768 I think, nevertheless the quality is horrible on a nice brand new monitor at the current resolution and status of the video card. I don't play any games, so a basic bottom of the barrell card will do me fine, since I have the AGP slot I'm leaning towards using that but not sure, thats why I've asked for input here.
-
I apparently haven't appeased the computer gods enough lately, first my LCD monitor went out, then my external HD and I've finally come to the conclusion that my video card is taking a shit as well. Its highly possible that my video card problem may have led to the monitor failing?? Anyway, the card in use now is the onboard POS, I'm looking to install a new card, I don't squat about them cause I've never been a gamer therefore never saw the need to upgrade/replace the existing card. My question is simply which is better, or which should I use, AGP or PCI. I have both slots available. I'll check back here around lunchtime and see what the survey says. I'm planning on a trip to MicroCenter tonight.

I know, I got lulled into a false sense of security running the external drive, cause usually when you lose data its because windows takes a shit on you and simply makes the data inaccessable, figured that wasn't a problem keeping my data on an external, never really dawned on my I might have failure issues with the external, my bad But anyway, back to the question/topic, whats your thoughts on the longevity of data on flashdrives?
-
Which one do you think will last longer without failure? The flashdrive with no mechanical parts? Or an external drive that still uses mechanical parts? Reason I ask is the last time I lost an internal harddrive I added a 500g external to my setup and connected it to a switch to be shared by both our pc's. I was under misconception that my data was safe on an external but I'm having issues with that drive now and am scrambling to get data off of it before its lost. I was wondering if storing important data on a large flashdrive would be the safest way, since there is no mechanical parts. Has anyone ever had a flashdrive fail? Assuming you know it wasn't physically destroyed. I'm gonna get back in the habit of periodically backing up to cd/dvd again, something I used to do but stopped after adding the 500g external.

Thats how my head feels after watching this weeks episode. I'm so confused.
-
I'm not tryin to
-
Yeah, sorry about that.
-
C'mon now, all I need is $10 to make my "minimum" donation level, haven't gotten any donations from any OR's yet! Who's gonna step up?? Buehler? Buehler?

People that type emails or post in forums in all caps and think nothings wrong with it when in reality they are just to lazy to use proper punctuation. And for the record, I typed that line above in all caps and the forum changed it to lower case AND made the first letter of the first word capitalized, hmmph, go figure

Not worth a reply.

Thanks for the offer but we are not ready to ride 30miles yet, we are abit out of shape and are working our way up to that by hitting the Hilliard Rail trail as much as possible and the gym when the weather is bad. We plan on riding 30miles by the Memorial Day weekend, probably gonna do the Kokosing Trail in Mt Vernon that weekend, thats 30miles roundtrip.
