  1. Michelin Pilot Road2 2CT

How do these hold up on the street? The bike I'm looking at getting has a set of these on it with 200 miles on them.

Should I be looking to get a different set come spring time, or will they hold up just fine?

  2. Wow, what a read.

As a business salesman your main priority is to get bikes sold, not joke around with your customers. You don't know someone well enough to joke with them, and it could lead to having a customer walk out the door with a bad image, which in this case happened.

No matter how good of a salesman this guy is, you just missed out on a sale, and plenty more from the way people view your shop now.

Salesman are there to make the customer happy, get bikes off the floor, and to be sure that their experience with your company is top notch. Joking can be done after the fact.

As far as out the door goes, when this is brought up that means they want to pay that price and that is it. They don't want all the extra amenities that are offered, and don't want to deal with tax or any of that. An easier way to deny that offer is to just say that you can't go that low. Common sense should tell you that.

  3. Cops also have curtesy cards, they look like business cards, that they give to friends and relatives. When a person with a curtesy card gets pulled over he hands the card with his license to cop and most times they get a break as curtesy one cop to another.

My buddy has one of them. Works like a charm when it's minor violations, but won't help you for anything big.

  4. Looking at a sv650 on Tue with my buddy. He knows enough to do a good maintenance run over it, and the guy has paper work of his most recent compression test, new front and rear sprockets, new chain, new tires.

Sounds good to me, just hope the bank approves my measly loan I'm asking for in this shit economy.

  5. It does seem that they do, but I don't know enough about bikes to thoroughly look one over, nor do I personally know anyone that knows a great deal about them. I'd rather spend the extra cash and buy locally from a guy who has papers showing the bike is in excellent mechanical condition.

  6. I'm going to stray away from them then. I don't want crappy customer service. Found a nice 650s that's local, a bit more than I wanted to spend but it's only another months worth of work more than I wanted to spend.

    Thanks.

  7. Anyone have any experience with them? I'm looking into getting my first bike and they have quite a few nice sv650s for decent prices, but I don't want to go to a shop trying to get rid of crap bikes for cheap.

  8. Thanks for those links. I'm going to be taking my test for my permit tomorrow I think. Is it necessary to read up on the bike packet, or is it mostly common sense like the one for getting your temps for your car? I read the online packet on the MSF site to get an idea of what may be asked on the test.

  9. Yeah, I've been looking on Cycle Search, hopefully by the beginning of March I'll be looking at bikes. Want to get through the MSF before I buy one so I know what to look for when I purchase one. I also want to test it out myself before purchase.

  10. I was thinking GSXR 600, but have been steered toward GSF500, or SV650. I'm now finding out which of these would be better for my first year. I hope to get a 600 after my first season of riding.

I want to stay above the ground.

I would not mind owning a cruiser, but I see that coming later in life, or as a second bike sometime down the road.

And thank you for the warm welcome everyone!
