  1. 2009 HD Street Bob: 42-45 city 50+ on the highway. Usually my combined mileage is in the 45+ range.
  2. The issue he may have is getting a rental with a novice license. I'd call first before reserving and showing up. It might not be enough to be insured and have the money.
  3. Just get a Dyna unless you really can't afford the price difference between a 1200 and the Dynas. The Dyna are a little bigger and the power is a lot smoother. Sportys are the best handling cruiser in the world but that 1200 is a little torque machine. They also have the worst stock seat in history.
  4. Unless, it had the V6 they dropped in those things in the early 90's. See my story above. That car would haul ass.
  5. About 15 years ago, I was driving East across Illinois about 8pm on a Friday. Just outside of Joliet about 15 staties etc went flying the other way on I-80 with their lights blazing. I had a 1993 Plymouth Duster with a strong little V-6. About the same time I did it, a Camaro and I jumped into the far left lane and did 100+mph all the way to the tollbooths on the West side of Chicago. That trip I made it from Omaha, NE to Grand Rapids, MI in 8.5 hours. That's 650 miles and my road trip buddy and I stopped once for gas and food.
  6. Bah, what a chump! He was already committed to running. He should have made a break for the Scioto.
  7. I always take advantage of the walk to the track on race day. The day of the Indy 500 is one of the few days you can walk right past an Indiana State Trooper on a public street with an open can of beer and he won't say a word to you unless you are being an ass or trying to cross a street when he doesn't want you to.
  8. I know this is several days late but for those of you wondering(not likely) the crowd for the Indy 500 is about 5x's that of MotoGP. Nothing about getting out of the area around the track was easy last Sunday and we waited almost 2 hours after the race to attempt to pull out of our usual parking spot that is 1 mile from the track.
  9. Yeah, rhector feels out numbered by the BMW's at EuroBikeNight.
  10. Anyone who buys that All American stuff is the kind of crap weasel who has clothes that look like an American flag. Don't look too closely at the labels on the boots and other merch. Wolverine makes the boots and shoes for Harley...at one of their factories in China. Harley balked at first about having them made in China. Wolverine showed them how much it would cost to have them made in the states. HD decided to deal with the PR battle. When push comes to shove, nearly every company will choose the money.
  11. Ah, so it was a management issue. See this is key. Sure HD will always protect the Bar and Shield but it only takes a couple of dumbasses in the right positions to screw things up royally. (Again, the stories about my employer.) On your second paragraph, agreed.
  12. So they had an eager buyer. Perhaps it was more tax advantageous to take the write down than to sell the brand. Who knows? Pretty much though this sums up my thoughts re the ire of Harley and Buell. Companies make weird or stupid decisions all the time. (The things I know about my employer make the baby Jesus cry.)
  13. I missed the 1125R. Apologies. You'd think though that for all the Harley hate that some of you would be happy HD shut it down. It gives Eric Buell a chance to restart the brand on his terms. Harley will always protect its main brand. That's its business. My point was that on this an many other forums people decry Harley for shutting down the Buell line. I admit they were great looking bikes with some interesting twists on technology. But in these same threads people list their current bikes and I rarely see a Buell. If something doesn't sell you scale it back or kill it. Maybe Harley never made the commitment to Buell it needed or didn't know how to market it. Again, that just means you should be happy Mr. Buell has a chance to do it on his terms. To Mr. "A Douche is A Douche": Nice personal attack. But, of course, you have no idea why I ride what I ride and I'm not going to bother explaining it to you.
  14. I always get a chuckle about all the anger toward Harley wrt Buell. People always proclaim to love these bikes yet in this thread not one person is listed as an owner. And some wonder why Harley shut it down.
  15. Was and gone now. I'll bring a paper towel out with me when I get ready to leave. This will be the best afternoon for a ride in weeks.

    New bike!

IMO, that's the prettiest bike Kawasaki makes. Enjoy.
  17. Always. Everyone. Never. You'd be wrong. I'm constantly counting off. It helps keep my head in the game.
  18. People always follow to closely on 270 and are rarely paying attention. So, why make it worse? And, as Casper said, it's not the track. Passes like he made would be awesome if made them on other bikes at a race track. But the last time I checked there isn't some disclaimer at the bottom of my visor in the mornings which reads: Professional Rider on a Closed Track.
  19. Oh the usual. No helmet(He had sunglasses on though), lane changes into spaces barely a car length long, going from the third lane to the first, to the second and back to the third. I lost track of him after that. I had no desire to try to catch him. Plus, I had to keep slowing down when the cars and trucks he was doing this in front of kept stabbing their brakes due to surprise. He wasn't doing 90 or anything. Just exercising some really poor judgment and forgetting the golden rule of motorcycle: The people in cars are trying to kill you. Of course, when the guy riding the Harley is wearing more gear than you your decision making process might be a little flawed to begin with.
  20. God be with you. Keep riding like that on a Monday morning and you are going to need him.
  21. Don't worry Columbus finished off most the bingo business at the Catholic Churches in Columbus with the hamfisted indoor smoking ban that was in place before the state wide one. Also, bingo revenue at its peak for one year didn't even come close to touching what a casino would consider a bad night for nearly every Parish. If you want to hate the Catholic Church go right ahead but you might want to try doing it for theological reasons because you are wrong on this socio-economic one.
  22. The judges will accept this answer from the ladies. Of course, I've seen enough of Jax's ass. It's time to show some of the Doc's booty.
  23. Are you actually familiar with Henry Rollins? Have you listened to his music, do you know his history, listened to his spoken word or read his writings? He is nothing near a white supremacist. http://www.vh1.com/artists/interview/1454948/20020603/rollins_henry.jhtml He does hate cops. And not just a little bit. Mostly because of how they treated him when his friend, Joe Cole, got shot and killed right next to him at their house in LA. He doesn't hate non-white people. BTW, someone said he sold out. If he sold out he sold out a long time ago when he played a cop in "The Chase".
