Anyway, isn't insurance is an issue when loaning out a bike. I looked into the concept of renting out a bike to new riders as a money-making idea. Requires commercial insurance.

No issue if you loan it to a "friend".  Any money changes hands and it creates a problem.  Big liability issue I see is that it's prolly not financially/legally wise to lend a motorcycle to a non-licensed driver.  Definitely opens up a can of worms.  This is a definite no-go for me unless the rider has a valid endorsement.

  2. @Tonik Damn, dude!  Did you have to file a route plan with the ODOT HazMat team to get that stuff home?  Or did you just contract with the Ohio National Guard to air-drop those skids of munitions to your house?

  3. I agree 100% with @Strictly Street!!!  Any weekend between the hours of midnight and 3 AM and just about any time on holiday weekends, I have always referred to those times on the roads as "Amateur Hour"....with all the terrible things that go along with drinking, driving and stupidity.  Not to mention the giant woods rats with big brown eyes tend to wander across highways during those hours.  Certainly wouldn't write it off completely, as the temps are perfect that time of night, but I'd make it a short ride at an easy pace.

When you look through the member list, so many peeps with cruisers, they prolly not active  because of us rookie racer wanna be folks always populating every thread with our inner circle banter and inside jokes. It's tough to break into such a hard packed close group of jackass friend circle who pretend to be sworn enemies here while being closer than family.

Oooo!  So you're saying that OhioRiders has turned into what the Assfault Junkies forum was about 4-5 years ago?  Can't wait to see how this sits with the Old Guard on OR...

  5. Wow!  This thread just took an unexpected and existential turn...on Ohio Riders, no less.  Who'da thunk it?

As for giving up my moto addiction to help the homeless, the Republicans said that homelessness is a choice and they actually like living under bridges.

  6. So did he break the overall PPIHC record?  Or the bike class record?  Hard to believe that a "stock" NA 1290 SD could outduel the 1000+HP supercharged/turbo'd race vehicles.  I've ridden PP and the penalty for failure is pretty damn severe over nearly the entire length of road.  Between sketchy pavement, the Armco/big rocks/trees to hit, the precipitous rock cliffs to either smash into or fall off of, this is right up there with the IOM TT as far as requiring BIG BALLS OF STEEL.

Pm me your address and I will send pants off for $50 and a shit in hat. Just send that hat to someone else please. Thought maybe you would like to check them out first since you are semi close.

Done and done.  I trust ya!  PM'd.

I work in Dayton. I can meet you somewhere in between no problem so you can check them out and not mess with the mail.

I get that packing and mailing is a PITA, but so is an hour RT for both of us to/from the meet-up.  I mapped the mileage from my place to "Dayton" proper at 58 miles, so a mid-point meet-up is 60ish miles RT and about $6-8 gas each plus about two hours of combined driving for both you and I.  I'll up my offer to $58 to cover your time and aggravation.  I totally understand if you decide to tell me to go sh-t in my hat because the packing and mailing falls on you--no hard feelings either way.  Your call....

  9. Never been to NL, but heard lots of comments from friends who race about the bad pavement.  But Sweet Mother of Akron...is this that mystical place where old tires go to die?  Must be a mosquito haven in the summer!!!

  10. No clue what the knob thing is, but my first guess as to the handlebar pod switch would be to access the menu settings for things like traction control, wheelie control, fuel mapping.  Or even more likely, it's a remote control switch for an onboard testosterone injection pump for when speeds reach >180 MPH as they weave thru old stone-walled villages!!!
