  1. Have this exact soft pannier set.  Bought 'em used many years ago and have made many multi-week trips to NC/GA, CO/UT, and FL.  The rain covers aren't totally water-proof so I always pack my clothes in 1-gal zip-lock bags.  Still work and function as new, although a bit sun-bleached.  These will outlast your prostate gland....

I doubt any Harley dealers are going to have useful information on the M2.  Even when Buell was still active, support was awful at the Chrome Castles.

This is your best/only source of info:  https://badweatherbikers.com/

I found dealer support during my short Buell ownership was worse than if I had owned a MotoGuzzi in Antarctica.

Geez, you guys are real rays of sunshine.  😂  I wasn't expecting parts to be available at Bike Bandit on a 1-day shipping basis, but figured there might still be some NOS sitting in dealers parts store.  Given that I prolly won't be putting big miles per year on it or doing 2-week cross-country tours, I'm hoping I'll get a few years of fun before I start the grinding and gnashing of teeth....

    @Tpoppa  Thx for the link!

The M2 was probably the best of the tube frame (pre-XB) Buells.

I know for XBs the OEM drive belts are no longer available.  There are belts that will "fit" but they are not spec-ed for Buells.  Not sure about the tubers.

Reading thru the then-current reviews of the 1999 model release, the M2 was the most loved of the Buell models, even tho it was carb'd.  Apparently, the EFI was not quite ready for prime time.  I haven't tried to source any parts yet, as it appears to be in fine shape, the PO said the belt is original, so I plan to at least go hunting at some of the bigger H-D dealers in the region to at least have one on hand....assuming I can find one.

buy some tread locker, you are going to need a lot of it. My 98 S3T shakes like a dog shitting razorblades.

Yeah, it's got a good case of shimmies below about 2600 RPM but smooths out above that, and mirrors are as clear as my Weestrom's at 60 MPH in 5th gear.  The Buell is certainly a different beast than I'm used to...

  5. Had an opportunity to pick up a one owner, garage kept Buell Cyclone M2 with 18K miles.  Guy worked as a HD mechanic and bought it new in New York.  Added a bunch of factory options like the tach, Buell-branded soft luggage, flat-slide Mikuni.  Wasn't really looking but it kind'a fell in my lap, so to speak.  Color is "Molten Orange".  Pretty much unmolested.  430# dry weight with 91 HP and 85 lbft of torque sounds like fun....

  6. Out of curiosity, is this a post-swelling-fuel-tank era bike?  I've always steered away from Ducs simply because of the tank problems--the early 2000 bikes were prone to this--and lack of local dealer support here in Cinti.  Presume original chain/sprockets?

Look at you go, Bubs! You are a regular Carl Icahn, a-throwin' money hither and yon with abandon and rakin' it in.

LOL.  You got me pegged, brother.  I espouse the base human qualities of greed and fear and prey on feeble old ladies by stealing their SS and pension money.

Seriously, I don't day trade--ever.  I'm a buy and hold guy that favors quality stocks that pay regular and increasing dividends, plus a relatively boring mix of low-cost broad-base MFs or ETFs.  I buy on the dips and sell when I need to generate cash.

I was kind'a unceremoniously pushed into early retirement in 2006, just 6 years after building my dream home on 10 acres.  Had planned to work for another 8-10 years, but that didn't play out quite like I thought.  Looked at my savings and IRA and made the decision to give up the dream of the yacht on the Riviera and drink cheap beer on the back deck, and it's worked through 2 major downturns over 14 years.  The market was pretty damn kind to investors from 2009 thru 2019, if they were willing to take on some risk.  I paid off my house as quickly as I could, making double principal payments from month 1.  Turned a 30 year mortgage into a 13 year mortgage.  Now, I earn more money in dividends than I need to live on so I donate to local charities and make sure my kids and grandkids have milk in the fridge.  Still live pretty close to the bone, but I have 3 motorcycles and a newish truck, I'm totally debt free, and go where I want when I want, and can't really think of anything more in the way of "things" to acquire or aspire to, other to stay healthy and keep on enjoying life.  Dad lived to 93, and I'm hoping to beat that mark!!!

I'm lucky in some ways, but I've created most of my luck and worked hard at doing the right things at the right time.  May you be as lucky and astute! :)

I was watching for the bottom, and pulled the trigger of a few that I believe will prove wise.

There were other that will probably turn out great, but at time seemed too risky and I was skeert.

Like you, I took about 1/4 to 1/3 of the cash reserves and bought into VGT.  Still holding some in the event of another drop.  Wanted more exposure to financials like Visa, MC, JPM.

Didn't call the bottom but still up from purchase.  I gotta believe, tho, that it's entirely possible and maybe likely that the "other shoe" will drop between now and Sept/Oct time frame.

As for a 3-5 year horizon, things will continue to go up....until the next pandemic/zombie apocalypse/nuclear Armageddon.

  9. There's a few guys here in Cinti that are into collecting/restoring vintage metric/euro bikes.  From their stories, unless you can find a screaming deal on a bike that's in pretty decent shape and mostly complete, prices on OEM parts or cost to refurbish said parts--not including your labor--are gonna limit your profit to a negative $$$.  Everyone I know that is good at restorations is doing it for the enjoyment and satisfaction and maybe to scratch an itch from their early riding years, not as a profitable hobby.

That means it has a vagina right?

Maybe, but lots of good reports about just how good the DCT tranny is on this bike.

Say what you will about shifting vs not, but the technology is pretty good (see any writeups about Porsche PDK) and getting better quickly.

  11. Given the heightened state of insanity in the world right now, I recognize this ain't the most auspicious time to try and sell anything...other than a snake oil cure for the COVID-19 virus.  Be that as it may, gonna post this up here for any one looking to add a really nice bike to their stable for the summer.

2013 Kawasaki ZX1000G Ninja, a few clicks over 9600 miles. I'm ashamed to say I bought this used 2 years ago with 8700 miles and have only put about 900 miles on it...not because it isn't a nice bike and fun to ride, but mostly because I have 2 other bikes (also fun to ride) and frankly, this 70 yo guy doesn't REALLY need a liter bike. Plus, I hate the pipes!!!😢

Details: Decent rubber (Michelin Pilot Power 3, DOT code 1915 F and 3514 R), tail tidy with LED tail light, frame sliders, swingarm spools, battery tender lead, tank protector, Sargent seat (both), V&H shorty exhaust (don't have the OEM cans), "knock-off" adjustable levers. Comes with Givi bags (mounting frame not currently installed) and VStream windscreen for comfy touring. Includes stock seat as well.

In the spirit of full disclosure and not wanting to fuck an OR member in the ass, it appears the bike has either been tipped over or had a very slow speed fall.  There is slight cuffing on the bottom of the clutch cover, a scratch/scuff on the right-side fairing that has been retouched, and the right hard bag has been re-skinned with a generic Givi panel vs the OEM Kawasaki panel.

Located in SW Ohio. Could possibly deliver within reasonable distance.

    Price is firm.

Disregard, They wont fit the Z1 and no color match. Sorry, I will just use my soft bags. Like my old Soft retired Member!

Plus the last time I purchased from a OR member here I got fucked in the ass real bad and haven't recovered even to this day.☹️

Somehow, I feel cheated that I'll never get the chance to fuck an OR member in the ass.... 🤔

Thx for the reply.  Personally, I prefer the soft bags myself, which is why I've never mounted the rack.  Plus, it looks like a real PIA--to stick with the theme--to install.

  13. I'm pretty sure I've seen a member here that has a Kawasaki green Ninja 1000, prolly 2013-2015 gen.  Need to ask he/she would be interested in a set of the color-matched Givi hard bags with the frame rack, as well as a VStream touring windscreen.  I'd make a screaming deal with all the muss and fuss that COVID-19 has created.

    Thx!
