  1. Thanks for the reply. The user reveiws seem pretty solid and after some further research I found that there is a a car cradle sold with an internal speaker ($60+ dollars......sigh). Looks like I can get the unit for $368 at buy.com. I might go to Best Buy tonight to take a peek before pulling the trigger. Thanks again!
  2. Hello! Does anyone have experience with this motocycle-centric unit? I was thinking about picking one up to use on my bike and in the car. I've done some reading and theres some great freeware out there to import a customized google map route into the GPS. I'm assuming the unit has no speaker since it is made to be exposed to the elements and am wondering how you would hear the directions when using it in the car (you get the directions via included bluetooth headset when riding your bike). Do you have it? Do you like it?
  3. Dustin- Nope. But I ordered one and it was totally cheap. I've been out a few rides and your tire work is supurb. I might hit yo up for some tune up work on it though, I am forced to start it with engine starting spray right now and am stumped on what to do next. I've gone on a few great rides though. Nick-Different strokes. I'm just an equal opportunity bike lover. I can actually afford the old ones though (My '78 cost me $250 and my '81 was $900) and I'm a pretty new rider so I don't have the need or skill to go over 70 mph. HA!
  4. http://www.amavintagemotorcycledays.com/ Looks like old bike insanity: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKlteruQ1zY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7H7xTzPDlw
  5. A friend of mine did the paint for me. It's House of Kolors Candy Tangerine Orange with a silver base coat. It brought tears to my eyes too, I sold her last summer when I bought my VTX.

  6. Dustin- The tire is holding air like a champ! Thanks for the reasonable price and patience with an old, hardened, skinny tire. At least you got to unwrap all of the toys for the mounter.
  7. I just looked at the website. The Element isn't rated to carry even 200 lbs....... Probably be better off getting a small trailer or an old pickup truck.
  8. When I've seen them "in the wild" they've been carrying Dirt Bikes. My heaviest bike is 460 lbs. (the other two are ~400lbs)
  9. Like this: http://www.versahaul.com/?gclid=CP_g6Ie42poCFRAhDQodF2AX2g I've seen a few of these on the road and wanted to see if anyone here had experience with using one (it would be on my wife's Honda Element). We go to northern Michigan every year and I would love to take a bike with me. Hell, it even be great to take the bike up to Toledo when visiting family. I like the idea of not having to get seperate plates for it like you would a trailer.
  10. Shame on me for going to Competition Accessories for the first tire... I can come up tonight. I'll give you a call at 6:15 just to confirm. Awesome!
  11. I hadn't thought of a general tire store... I was going to see if my buddy who's an old Japanese bike fanatic would do it, but he said that he pinches the tube 50% of the time. I may run over to the general area my wife was talking about at lunch to see if I can find the place she's talking about.
  12. Dustin, What are your hours? What would you charge?
  13. Hey guys! I am wrapping up the work on my 1978 XS 500 and have decided to have someone else futz with taking the old tires off the rim and putting on the new tire and tube. I had Competition Accessories do the front tire over the weekend, but I have the back tire off now and wanted to see if you guys have any local shops yo might suggest for this type of work (I'm in Beavercreek). My wife seems to think there is some bike shop near the intersection of Grange Hall and Patterson.
  14. Anybody still on board? Sounds like my wife wants to come (probably means no Hooters girls photos......sorry.......).
