  1. Thanks for the reply. The user reveiws seem pretty solid and after some further research I found that there is a a car cradle sold with an internal speaker ($60+ dollars......sigh). Looks like I can get the unit for $368 at buy.com. I might go to Best Buy tonight to take a peek before pulling the trigger. Thanks again!
  2. Hello! Does anyone have experience with this motocycle-centric unit? I was thinking about picking one up to use on my bike and in the car. I've done some reading and theres some great freeware out there to import a customized google map route into the GPS. I'm assuming the unit has no speaker since it is made to be exposed to the elements and am wondering how you would hear the directions when using it in the car (you get the directions via included bluetooth headset when riding your bike). Do you have it? Do you like it?
  3. Dustin- Nope. But I ordered one and it was totally cheap. I've been out a few rides and your tire work is supurb. I might hit yo up for some tune up work on it though, I am forced to start it with engine starting spray right now and am stumped on what to do next. I've gone on a few great rides though. Nick-Different strokes. I'm just an equal opportunity bike lover. I can actually afford the old ones though (My '78 cost me $250 and my '81 was $900) and I'm a pretty new rider so I don't have the need or skill to go over 70 mph. HA!
  4. http://www.amavintagemotorcycledays.com/ Looks like old bike insanity: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKlteruQ1zY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7H7xTzPDlw
  5. Dustin- The tire is holding air like a champ! Thanks for the reasonable price and patience with an old, hardened, skinny tire. At least you got to unwrap all of the toys for the mounter.
  6. I just looked at the website. The Element isn't rated to carry even 200 lbs....... Probably be better off getting a small trailer or an old pickup truck.
  7. When I've seen them "in the wild" they've been carrying Dirt Bikes. My heaviest bike is 460 lbs. (the other two are ~400lbs)
  8. Like this: http://www.versahaul.com/?gclid=CP_g6Ie42poCFRAhDQodF2AX2g I've seen a few of these on the road and wanted to see if anyone here had experience with using one (it would be on my wife's Honda Element). We go to northern Michigan every year and I would love to take a bike with me. Hell, it even be great to take the bike up to Toledo when visiting family. I like the idea of not having to get seperate plates for it like you would a trailer.
  9. Shame on me for going to Competition Accessories for the first tire... I can come up tonight. I'll give you a call at 6:15 just to confirm. Awesome!
  10. I hadn't thought of a general tire store... I was going to see if my buddy who's an old Japanese bike fanatic would do it, but he said that he pinches the tube 50% of the time. I may run over to the general area my wife was talking about at lunch to see if I can find the place she's talking about.
  11. Dustin, What are your hours? What would you charge?
  12. Hey guys! I am wrapping up the work on my 1978 XS 500 and have decided to have someone else futz with taking the old tires off the rim and putting on the new tire and tube. I had Competition Accessories do the front tire over the weekend, but I have the back tire off now and wanted to see if you guys have any local shops yo might suggest for this type of work (I'm in Beavercreek). My wife seems to think there is some bike shop near the intersection of Grange Hall and Patterson.
  13. Anybody still on board? Sounds like my wife wants to come (probably means no Hooters girls photos......sorry.......).
  14. Your Suzuki brings tears to my eyes. Where did you get that paint job done??

  15. Those times sound perfect to me.
  16. I'm going to go to this for sure. I totally agree about the "blessing" part too. I'd just like to check out a wide variety of bikes. Anybody else interested?
  17. My wife's from Austintown. MAN they have never heard of road repair up that way. I've never seen anything like it! I'd love to take my bike up there and ride through Mill Creek Park sometime though.... ......WELCOME!!
  18. Welcome fellow non-sportbike rider!
  19. I may have to meet up with you guys the next Sunday ride you go out on. ......if you don't mind being chased by an old 400cc motorcycle.
  20. +1 on the "indeed" suggestion. Have him talk to Manpower's Porfessional division too. Very little effort on his part to have another set of eyes looking for him.
  21. That is exactly what my 500 looks like actually (but its black). At this point it is only running with an inital spray of starting fluid, and I still need to redo the brakes and change the tires. Hopefuly by the end of summer it will be fully operational. I don't think they were very popular. I called Joe's Cycles in Dayton to ask about an air filter for it and the lady there said they carried them but didn't sell many of them back in the day. It was a $275 purchase. I thought it would be a fun way to learn how these machines work. I love the look of late 70's and 80's bikes. I really wanted a Honda Dream, but I knew I'd have a horrible time finding parts for a bike from the 60's....
  22. Hello everybody! I've been riding about a year now and am amazed it took me this long to find this site. My main ride is a peppy 1981 Yamaha XS400, but I also have a Honda Helix scooter and a 1978 Yamaha XS 500 that I am attempting to get running and on the road. Looking forward to chatting with everybody and tapping into your knowlege of bikes and riding in Ohio! **I'm always down for a spin if anybody lives my way and wants to go for a ride.
