living near akron means a much longer drive anywhere else. except nelson ledges. haven't heard much about fasttrax though. mid-ohio is only an hour and 20 minutes away. so i guess jester was the head guy for the novice group? and lizard was the rider's meeting dude? damn, didn't realize all these people were on here.

although I only did one track day with STT, all the instructors for the beginner group were real cool, and everybody was helpful. disappointed to see this happen, I was looking forward to do another day with them in intermediate.
-
yeah, i see your point. maybe I will hold off. i have an addiction to buying toys lol. i do actually want to get better boots for the track. that would probably be a good thing to get first.

What kind of lap timers are you guys using? I was looking on sportbike track gear, and saw that they sell a few different setups, one with the transmitter, one with the download software, etc. What all do I need?
-
you aren't kidding about the HBC HHs being loud. My god. is it normal for them to make some noise all the time, or are my pads rubbing on the rotors too much?
-
Nice save, and awesome view. I somehow managed to jump the yellow curbing and go into the grass in the left hander before the carousel. The front end was all over the place and I thought I was going down for sure, but I got it back on the track. Nothing like yours though.

Hey Nate, nice videos. Gives me some ideas for the next time. I didn't even know you crashed. What happened? Any videos of it? Any damage to you or the bike?
-
That seems disproportionally high. I'm not trying to pick on you personally, but I would maybe take a look at your riding habits, and try to ride more defensively. I realize that there will always be instances where you are stuck in a situation and can't really do much about it, but 8 times in 3 months? That's crazy.

while I'm at it, here's a video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTtpvfHGFX0 it starts and ends on the back straight, because we were doing the leapfrog thing, and that is where we would start leading the lap and then let somebody else lead. this was either the first or second session after lunch. I wish I had the camera on for the last session of the day, because I was definitely going faster.
-
I had my camera on the rear section for a bit too. But I had the white cbr and Steve's was the black one. Steve, you gonna be in advanced next time? Edit: well looks like you found him now Steve haha. Edit 2: Here's one of the few pics my dad took on my camera. Figures, the fence is right in the way. I bought the cd from the photographer, so there will be many more later.
-
Oh yeah, I definitely wasn't using that as an accurate time, just kind of a reference point.
-
I was in group 3. On the all white cbr. I remember seeing your bike in the starting area. My dad came to watch and timed one lap at 1:55. But that was just looking at his watch, so who knows how accurate that really is lol.
-
yeah, he said he used to race an SV650. I googled "mike graham mid ohio" and the first result was something about him racing an SV. what kind of times are intermediate and advanced riders running at mid-ohio?
-
Might be. He said he has been racing at mid Ohio for 25 years. And he could barely touch both feet on the ground when he was on the bike lol.
-
I had an awesome time, and will definitely be doing more. I think I did really good for my first track day. I had a lot of fun leading my instructor and then following him. I forget his name, but he was the short older guy who was on the newer gsxr. He had a lot of good things to say at the end of the day. I'll be in the intermediate group next time. Great time. Bye bye extra money.
-
he went, and had a great time. he took some videos, since his pictures would never compare to the ones taken by the photographer at the track.
-
I am wondering how much down time there is during a track day. My dad is thinking about going down to Mid-Ohio with me tomorrow to watch and assist, but he doesn't want to go if he's going to be sitting around by himself all day, and it's my first track day so I don't know what to tell him. I'll be in the beginner group, so I guess there is classroom insruction? How long is that? So, how much time will he spend sitting by himself if he goes?
-
exactly what i did. dollar general across the street, three pads, $3. thanks.
-
I got new brake pads, and have read that I need to remove the residue from the old pads off the rotors. I read that I should glass bead them, but I only have access to a sandblaster. Will this damage the rotors? If so, I guess it will be simple green and a scotch brite pad.

Alright, I'm in. Just signed up online. This will be my first track day. I can't freakin wait. SJC1000rr, I might have to take you up on that garage space, if nobody else does. Since it will be my first track day, I probably don't really need garage space, but if nobody else is going to use it I might as well.

not to show you up cbrjess, but here's a list I made in excel. I wanted something I could easily print and have nice little check boxes, because I have OCD like that. I used your lis and several others that I found online. I left off camping stuff because that is a completely seperate checklist in itself.
-
i bought some ebc hh pads because that's what state 8 had in stock, but then reading over at 600rr.net, it seems that they may not be so good. i am glad i have access to a glass bead blaster at work though. i'll have to take my rotors in tomorrow.
-
what is a good pad for split street and track use?
-
That's way too much to read on my blackberry while i'm driving.
-
What's the big deal? I'm on 600rr.net and svrider.com, both of which are motorcycle.com forums, and they are both good.
