  1. I got my suit in the mail yesterday and didn't have anywhere good to put it, so I threw it in the chair. Decided to add the other gear for good measure lol. Hasn't scared the crap out of me yet, surprisingly, but I'm sure it will at some point.
  2. Remided me of Apollo Creed's shorts in Rocky lol. I thought it was kinda cool, being the 4th of July and all.
  3. well i went to Iron pony, and was pretty disappointed with the selection. They only had a couple of the Alpinestars RC-1 suits, and none in my size. I tried on an A* Octane in a 42, and it fit just about perfect. So now that I have a reference for size, I'm going to order from STG. But now I can't decide between this... $850 shipped... And this... $720 shipped, and come with free gloves, which they will let me pass on, and pu he money towards a back protector. What do you guys think?
  4. wow, I see all this talk about coshocton on here, but never bothered to look and see where it was. doesn't look like it would be too far of a ride from the akron area. closer than the wv/oh border area. sweet!
  5. damn, that's a good looking bike. nice camera too.
  6. yup, i waved too. i remember thinking "damn, that's a diverse group of bikes." you guys had a little bit of everything.
  7. I'm pretty sure I passed you guys on riverview. I was heading south, and you guys were going north. I was on the naked red cbr with no headlight lol.
  8. Well the fairings are eventually going back on. Just waiting for some paint. Think I'm going to do a pearl white.
  9. Just a little update. Gons get the bike fixed and give him back what's left. I bought a full set of fairings off of Mike at Cycle Therapy for $800. Dropping them off to get painted tomorrow. Bought a mirror and fairing bracket there too. Still need a gauge cover, tip over sensor and headlight assembly. I rode it yesterday, all street fightered out, with just the fairing bracket with the gauges and mirrors on. No headlight, no body work other than the tank cover and rear fairing. I kinda liked the ride with no windshield. People were looking at me like "wtf is that piece of shit?"
  10. man, i want to get down there and ride some good roads once I have a working bike again. problem is, none of my buddies have bikes, and I highly doubt I'm anywhere near the riding ability of most here. Haven't been riding long, never done a track day, etc. I would hate to slow down the group or whatever. If I'm going to go all the way down that way, I'd probably wanna stay somewhere and make a riding weekend out of it. Are there any decent cheap hotels down that way?
  11. I'm pretty sure I'm just going to fix it and give any leftover money back. Even though I really want THIS. Maybe I'll get a new exhaust or something though
  12. Haha. Believe me, I am not the least bit worried about that. Notice the BMW 5 series behind the bike in the pictures.
  13. I mean, realistically, it wouldn't be THAT bad to fix. Upper fairing, 2 middle fairings, headlights, windscreen, mirror, gauges. I think that's about it. I would love to track it, and get an 07 for the street, but I don't know if that's the right thing to do.
  14. I don't think he'll ever be getting on a bike again LOL. So I think that idea is out of the question. All I have are crappy cell phone pics. Here ya go...
  15. which is why I let him ride it. I wasn't worried about the financial aspect, but it does piss me off that he said he wasn't going to go over 20, and then went flying down the street. And yeah, I want to waste as little riding time as possible. And like I said, as much as I would like to buy another bike, and then make the 03 a track bike, I don't want to take advantage of him or the situation. I'll probably end up just fixing it and giving him back the leftover money. Just sucks that I'll probably miss out on a month of riding.
  16. That will definitely be the last time I let anybody ride my bike. Unless maybe I have ridden with them, and know that they know what they are doing. I'm not going to go through the insurance company. No way do I want my rate to go up. I'm not looking to profit off the whole ordeal. I just want to be able to ride again. I could fix it myself for pretty cheap, but it will take a while and I don't want to waste the whole summer looking for parts. I could take it somewhere, but they will charge me a ton, and I don't want to spend $4,000 on a $3,000 bike. I do have my eye on a real nice white and silver '07 CBR600RR. I still don't know what I'm going to do. Like I said, I'm just glad nobody got hurt. The bike can be repaired/replaced.
  17. But I wasn't riding. And I'm even one of those "never let anybody ride my bike" kinda people. Here's the story... Went out for a ride through the valley today. Great weather, great ride. Rode for a couple hours, and was close to my mom's boyfriends house, so I called her to see if they were. They were, so I stopped by. Her boyfriend was about to throw some steaks on the grill and they invited me to stay for dinner, so I did. After dinner, her boyfriend asked if I would show him how to ride the bike. I obviously said no. He asked again, and I told him I don't let anybody ride it, especially if they don't have any experience. He said "I had dirtbikes as a kid. I won't go over 20, I just want to ride it around for a minute." So, not wanting to look like a dick, I relented. He got on, and I gave him the lecture about how touchy the throttle is, and how powerful the bike is. He gave it some gas to get moving, and I told him he was giving it too much, and to jus give it a little. He gets going, turns he corner and GUNS it. So much for staying under 20. He goes out of my sight, and 2 seconds later, WHAM. I run around the corner and see him picking the bike up off its side. He ran into a mailbox, going probably 60mph, and then laid it down. Front fairing and windshield are shattered. Both mid fairings are toast. Guage cluster is broken. Left mirror is broken. Some random wires hanging down. Both headlights are shattered. He was riding in shorts and a t-shirt, and wih no helmet, since none of my stuff would have fit him, and he was gonna "keep it under 20." Luckily he was alright. Scraped up knee and arm, but no worse than a bicycle crash, somehow. Thank god he didn't get seriously hurt, or I would have felt extremely guilty for letting him ride it. Obviously, I'm a dumbass for letting him ride it. But at the same time, I didn't want to be a dick. He's a really generous guy, and has done a lot for me, so I gave in. It sucks, but at least he was alright. He wrote me a check for $5,000 to either get it fixed, or buy a new one. Not sure what I'm going to do yet. I could buy another one and make this one a track bike, but I don't want to take advantage of him and end up wih 2 bikes either. Man is this a shitty feeling though. Could have ended so much worse than it did. Luckily the bike is the only thing with serious damage. And the mail box. Lesson learned. Last time I give in and let anybody else ride my bike.
  18. haha, saw that coming. i probably eat more than most people. i'm one of "those guys" that couldn't gain any weight if i tried.
  19. Well I mean the alpinestars are made for shorter people who are my weight. If I got one that fit my height, it would be baggy, and if I got one for my weight, it would be too short in the arms and legs. I wish they had tall sizes.
  20. Yeah, it looks like I might have to take a trip down there just for that. Too bad it's like a 2 hour drive down there. Kinda sucks. It doesn't help that I'm 6 feet tall, 165 pounds. I like the A*s stuff, but looking at the size charts it seems like their stuff is made for shorter people.
  21. I'm thinking about picking up a one piece suit so I can do the school/track day at Nelson Ledges, and for more spirited street riding, but I would like to at least try some on. I don't want to do the whole "order one online and send it back five times because I can't find the right size" thing. I've been to state 8, crooked river, Ohio motorcycle, and HMF, and didn't see any. Anywhere else? Thanks Oh yeah, if I do order one online, spartan leathers makes custom suits based off of about 25 measurements that you give them. A guy on SVrider started the company and they seem like pretty good suits. Anybody here have any experience with them?
  22. Here's a picture of the good side. It was dropped on the other side, but it isn't too bad. Paid $2650. It ran when I test rode it, then when I went to pick it up it died and wouldn't start again. Got it home, put fresh gas in, changed the spark plugs, and got a new battery and it started right up. Put a set of pilot powers on it and a new chain. Figure I'll probably ride it as is for this year and paint it over the winter.
  23. Just bought my first bike. 2003 Honda CBR600RR. Probably not the best first bike, but I got a really good deal on it through a friend. I was planning on getting an SV650, but I couldn't pass this up. It was dropped at low speed by the previous owner and needs some paint, but it runs good. I'm in Cuyahoga Falls, maybe I'll see some of you guys around.
