  1. living near akron means a much longer drive anywhere else. except nelson ledges. haven't heard much about fasttrax though. mid-ohio is only an hour and 20 minutes away.

so i guess jester was the head guy for the novice group? and lizard was the rider's meeting dude? damn, didn't realize all these people were on here.

  2. although I only did one track day with STT, all the instructors for the beginner group were real cool, and everybody was helpful. disappointed to see this happen, I was looking forward to do another day with them in intermediate. :(

  3. What kind of lap timers are you guys using? I was looking on sportbike track gear, and saw that they sell a few different setups, one with the transmitter, one with the download software, etc. What all do I need?

  4. Had bike for 2.5-3 months. Been run off road 8 times already. Every one was douchebag on 4 wheels not looking and no signal.

That seems disproportionally high. I'm not trying to pick on you personally, but I would maybe take a look at your riding habits, and try to ride more defensively. I realize that there will always be instances where you are stuck in a situation and can't really do much about it, but 8 times in 3 months? That's crazy.

  5. I had my camera on the rear section for a bit too. But I had the white cbr and Steve's was the black one.

Steve, you gonna be in advanced next time?

Edit: well looks like you found him now Steve haha.

Edit 2: Here's one of the few pics my dad took on my camera. Figures, the fence is right in the way. I bought the cd from the photographer, so there will be many more later.

  6. I was in group 3. On the all white cbr. I remember seeing your bike in the starting area.

My dad came to watch and timed one lap at 1:55. But that was just looking at his watch, so who knows how accurate that really is lol.

  7. I had an awesome time, and will definitely be doing more. I think I did really good for my first track day. I had a lot of fun leading my instructor and then following him. I forget his name, but he was the short older guy who was on the newer gsxr. He had a lot of good things to say at the end of the day. I'll be in the intermediate group next time. Great time. Bye bye extra money.

  8. I am wondering how much down time there is during a track day. My dad is thinking about going down to Mid-Ohio with me tomorrow to watch and assist, but he doesn't want to go if he's going to be sitting around by himself all day, and it's my first track day so I don't know what to tell him. I'll be in the beginner group, so I guess there is classroom insruction? How long is that? So, how much time will he spend sitting by himself if he goes?

  9. Or, you can go to Dollar General and buy a scotch brite three pad kit for $3 and scrub away. Doesn't take much effort. No need to go overkill and use a drill... Just scuff them and wipe them clean with Brake Cleaner...

exactly what i did. dollar general across the street, three pads, $3. thanks.

  10. I got new brake pads, and have read that I need to remove the residue from the old pads off the rotors. I read that I should glass bead them, but I only have access to a sandblaster. Will this damage the rotors?

If so, I guess it will be simple green and a scotch brite pad.

  11. Alright, I'm in. Just signed up online. This will be my first track day. I can't freakin wait. SJC1000rr, I might have to take you up on that garage space, if nobody else does. Since it will be my first track day, I probably don't really need garage space, but if nobody else is going to use it I might as well.

  12. not to show you up cbrjess, but here's a list I made in excel. I wanted something I could easily print and have nice little check boxes, because I have OCD like that. I used your lis and several others that I found online. I left off camping stuff because that is a completely seperate checklist in itself.

  13. i bought some ebc hh pads because that's what state 8 had in stock, but then reading over at 600rr.net, it seems that they may not be so good.

i am glad i have access to a glass bead blaster at work though. i'll have to take my rotors in tomorrow.
