I am in the process of getting a new schedule at work but regardless will make sure that I'm freed up. If you're coming in from the Columbus area you can hit 35 East off of 23 South(Chillicothe) and drop off onto 93 South at Jackson. That brings you straight into Ironton and directly into downtown without having to make a single turn(once on 93) anywhere along the way.

I live in Ironton OH but my Father's side of the family lives one town over from Fayetteville where the bridge is. Don't forget that Hawk's Nest Overlook is very close as well. It's just off of 19. You can take a boat ride(minimum cost) up the river and come pretty close to being under the bridge. The most fun part is riding an old school tram about 850 feet down the side of the mountain. Ahead of time, yes the tram is old as hell but it's safe...lol. As far as the roads, I rode it a few weeks ago..they are mostly clear and only a few places where gravel tends to lay just because it's in the hillls and washout happens. Wish I could meet up with you at Gauley Bridge but I have to work. Have a safe one!! Keep me in mind for the next time you are this way.

I live 4 miles from Ironton so I have been around this event since it began. It's primarily a cruiser "well attended" event but could use an injection of sportbikes as well. Our club(more sportbikes) will more than likely be attending. **Added bonus, there are some incredible backroads this way so if anyone does make it feel free to hit me up and we'll show everyone some hospitality. I wear the Alpinestars Octane Boots for my everyday rides. Very comfortable and well built. A tad on the heavy side but you feel like you have good, safe boots on your feet. So to me, that negates the fact that they feel a bit heavy. Anyway, they can be found for between $129-$169. I have the Alpinestars SMX-2 for when things are a bit more on the serious side(backroads). They have the toe sliders and are alot more firm. They're also acceptable at some tracks. I caught a fair deal with an online retailer since I was buying 2 different types of Alpinestars at the same time.
