  1. Same thing happened to my cousin in California... http://www.aolnews.com/story/daniela-earnest-lemonade-stand-shut-down/607903
  2. Yeah, sounds good. I'll definitely come out to one of the rides.
  3. I want to try an open baffle setup at home soon. I just don't have the room right now. I always have some kind of audio thing in the works, but I rarely finish anything. I have been using a pair of MTM's I built for the last 10 years or so. They use two Vifa 6-1/2" woofers and a Morel MDT-33 soft dome per speaker. The image really well and are really clean in the midrange, but the bass is lacking. I made the enclosures too tall and skinny... not enough baffle area to get the bass coupled to the room.
  4. That depends on if you're talking about sound quality or quantity. A ported box will put out more sound, but a TL has deeper more refined bass quality.
  5. The problem is that he should have come out of the car with badge displayed instead of his gun. The bike wasn't able to go anywhere at that point anyway. Riding like that in traffic is idiotic, but the situation was handled really poorly. The only difference between these 2 idiots is that one was just having a little fun, the other had a state-sanctioned chip on his shoulder that he is obviously itching to use, even off duty.
  6. I know what you mean, but I didn't say perfect... I'm not just an imperfect Christian, I really am a total disaster, trust me. lol. But, I do know that Jesus is God come in the flesh to redeem mankind, and believe He is the only way... just haven't figured out how that is supposed to work in this life. I guess you could say that I shipwrecked my faith many years ago, and I never have fit in with church people, so I just stopped trying.
  7. So, do you have to be a good Christian to be a part of this, or can you be a screwed-up backsliding disaster of a Christian and participate? I can ride in the back if you want.
  8. Depends on what you want, and what your price range is. I agree about Triumph, but I'm also a little biased. If you want all-out power, you had better look at something with a 4. If you want something different with some character, the Triumph Triples are really sweet motors. I don't think there's much of anything with a liter sized motor built in the last 10 years that I wouldn't ride (assuming we are talking about sport bikes, not tractors, I mean, cruisers).
  9. That's cool... a TL in a car, lol. I built a home sub that used 8 x 8" (just cheapie woofers) in a line array. It was 8' tall, something like 12 or 14 cubic feet. For some reason, my wife didn't like it in the living room.
  10. I've heard $2000 a piece. Is that what you were hearing?
  11. So, your blanket statements are more correct than my blanket statements. How can I argue with that? On the 'net it's more about who more strongly insists that they are right. I didn't see sources or numbers... do you want to do a complete report for all of us with footnotes? In other words, this is pointless. Neither one of us will convince the other. I think we agree about much more than we disagree. What I'm seeing as a fundamental difference in opinion has to do with our views on government regulation of the financial industry, and my isolationist viewpoint. I concede I might be wrong on these things... I think it's much more complicated than either of us know. Examples of government interference? The most recent being subprime loans driven by "social justice" legislation in congress... you know, the main cause of the failure of fannie / freddie? Many have said the great depression was only prolonged by artificially inflating wages and prices. For me, it really just comes down to who you are willing to trust. I have zero faith in the US government. I have zero faith in the "goodness of people" (I believe people are fundamentally flawed as well). I think capitalism, when it is working, uses the worst in people to produce something for all. The problem is that it isn't working any more, due to tampering by the government, and the global economy. It really will only work with some protections and isolation, which is why I believe in that. If there is an open world economy, the place with the cheapest labor force and materials wins. Maybe we can't go back to the way it was in the past... I just hate to see every manufacturing company move production overseas or north and south. I think it's wrong to punish a corporation for being successful through taxes, but appropriate to punish them through tarriffs for choosing the shortcut of non-US production... level the playing field. The idea being to get the jobs and technology to stay here. I don't know where you work, and in what industry, but in manufacturing when you have a bad product and a poorly run company, you lose money and close the doors... unless you're GM or Chrysler. I think it's appropriate to let failures fail, and not to punish those who succeed for other's failure. And, I'm all for anything to forces US corporations to do business in the United States, rather than import from a 3rd world slave labor country. If we want to keep our standard of living, that is the only way it's going to happen. Otherwise, our economy is going to continue to decline, while the rest of the world profits from us.
  12. cops are dicks, and this one is no exception. They deserve the backlash they get, because they take things way too far for no reason. I'm all for law and order, but this guy on the bike didn't hurt anyone. If it were me, I would think I was getting my motorcycle jacked. Maybe we all need cameras on our bikes to keep them in line. I hate the ACLU, but in this case I'm glad that someone is helping the guy out.
  13. I see what you mean now. The grid isn't up to it where they would need to locate the panel / turbine farms.
  14. Sad, isn't it? They think we are that stupid as to see this as a good use of our money. You have to wonder if they're sitting around saying "they're not buying it... we need MORE SIGNS" lol.
  15. Also... forgot to mention... I agree we need to keep going with solar and wind, but it will never be the real answer... only a supplemental form of energry. I have read that the solar panels and wind turbines often do not last long enough even to recoup the energy that went into producing them in the first place. As far as distribution? I don't see the problem. A lot of copper wire, a DC to high voltage AC converter, and you have it. The investment in that might never recoup the cost either though, as expensive as wire is.
  16. I understand the dislike about rationing. It doesn't go along with the typical free-market party line and verges into too much regulation... HOWEVER... it's become a matter of national security due to the outpouring of money into the middle east. If we don't start to do something to make everyone aware of the situation, we really are just paying for our demise as a nation. What is more important- unlimited use of gasoline, or having a future? When there is a situation where people are knocked out of their comfort zones, there will be a drive for improved efficiency that is grass-root, rather than imposed by some big government idea based on BS environmental climate change nonsense. Then you will see innovation that the government can't produce (because government doesn't produce... it's a wealth consumer, not a wealth generator). I agree about nuclear, but it makes me nervous, honestly. There is a real dilemma what to do about the waste produced.
  17. I see you fully swallow the party rhetoric. "If we don't police the world, it will all go straight to hell". While I understand that financial gain with no responsibility can destroy things in a hurry, the only thing regulation does is line the pockets of those that are imposing the laws. The OP is right, in that freedom to produce will create jobs and prosperity for everyone because it does trickle down in the form of jobs and opportunity (for those that want to work). The only thing this system that is failing in front of us is doing is digging the hole a little deeper and making full recovery less of a possibility. If we really want to get back to where we were as a nation (a stable, strong economy) we need to do a few things. 1. get government out of people's pockets, including business. 2. Tariffs or other laws to level the playing field for US manufacturing to be able to compete. Anything not produced here should be taxed, with the money going to tax incentives to the poor and to reduce the cost on competing items that are produced here. A strong manufacturing base is essential for a strong and safe nation. 3. Quit trying to police the world. Spend all this money used in sand land to secure our borders, and build a strong military to protect our interests. 4. Quit selling out to the UN and other world organizations that don't have our best interest as their primary concern. 5. Energy independence through realistic means. Anyone who understands energy knows that solar and wind are a pipe dream and won't produce nearly the amount of energy as fossil fuel (often times showing no net gain in energy production compared with the cost of producing the means). I think we need to continue on in the research and refinement of these ideas, but we also need to look at better fuel economy and smaller vehicles for commuting purposes, as well as the possibility of rationing at some point to tighten the belt and get the population used to the idea that it's not in unlimited supply. If you do that and get the government off of people's back, the true innovators will come out of the woodwork and new and innovative ideas will start to happen. You've hinted on something, but I think you have the concept reversed. Capitalism does indeed only work when there is a responsible and ethical population. True. But the system is failing because of the lack of ethics, not because it wasn't being policed by "moral" governors. In fact, the financial collapse had a lot to do with people interfering in the financial institutions. Do you think government is the answer, really? DC is one big sewer full of rats. They are just another part of the problem. Until we get them out of the way, there is no chance. The more they meddle, the worse it gets. Until people start to look out for the common good and their neighbors rather than their own selfish motivations, capitalism will fail. In my opinion, it is imminent, and the only way things will turn around will be when the system totally collapses. Then you will see what people are really made of... the good, and the really really bad. We can only hope that there is more of the former than the latter left when it happens. As far as oil being the reason for the war.... where is the oil? I haven't seen it. When you can show me what we've gained in ANY way by being over there, I'll believe it. You know, I think it would be better if we had taken all the oil, and could at least have a justification for marching into Iraq and killing so many US men and women in the process.
  18. One more thing that pisses me off about the current administration: UNNECESSARY ROAD PROJECTS! They have been laying shitty chip and seal over more good roads in eastern Ohio where the road is not even in bad condition. I think "F Obama" everytime I see one of those damn "American recovery investment act" signs in front of one of my favorite roads... you know it's never going to be as good of a ride once they get done with it.
  19. I don't think most people have a problem funding the military, or roads, or other necessities. We are all just a little fed up with funding failing corporations, money give-aways to losers, and bigger government.
  20. That was amazing... never would have believed a bike could outslalom a car. I wonder if the result would be the same if the cones were offset farther?
  21. I'm still waiting for my Okada bike taxi. I sent my $2000 to them a few weeks back. They said they would set me up with one of these taxis, and also entrust me with 10 million US dollars from the hidden treasure of former Prime Minister Alhaji Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa if I sent them my bank account number and a money order for $2000. It seemed legit, and I am looking for a new line of work since that home business opportunity selling penis enhancement drugs (which it turns out, didn't work) went limp.
  22. I have the same problem. In "real life" I am quiet and introverted. I tend to keep my opinions to myself. On the net, I tend to express them, and I have very little tolerance for bullshitters (of which there are a majority on any given forum). Forums breed group-think. A few strong personalities with high BS tendencies tend to set themselves up as gurus, and God help you if you disagree with anything they say. Also, if you're a logical thinker, you might as well give that up, because the majority of people care more about how they feel about something than if it is true or not. So, what's left, other than to fuck with them all and amuse yourself? There is probably a word for this type of masturbation... if not there should be. Troll, maybe?
  23. BS. At any speed over parking lot maneuvers, a car has a huge advantage in changing directions quickly. The contact patch is much larger, and they don't have to keep it upright and adjust the center of gravity to change direction. In an evasive swerve, a car has a huge advantage over any motorcycle.
