  1. A yellowjacket in your shirt. Little sucker stung me on the upper arm, and then went down and got me on the side before I could get him out of my shirt. He then met the size 13 of doom. That will teach me to ride without my gear.
  2. lol. I must be more squidly than I thought... didn't seem that bad to me what he was doing. I wouldn't do it, but I did enjoy watching it.
  3. Welcome to the board. Metzler 880's seem to be a common tire for cruisers and standards when you're looking for decent wear and performance for a good price. My more recent bikes have been sport and adventure tourers and sport bikes, so take ithis with a grain of salt. I really like the continentals I've been using on my V-strom.... not sure what their cruiser tires are like. Congrats on getting the bike you want. Nothing like a Harley. I also have a couple CB350's lurking in my garage.
  4. That would be cool. What kind of mods? Different opamps, capacitors, etc.? I picked up a Yamaha SACD / DVD player off of Amazon not too long ago, brand new, $80. It's not a bad sounding player for the money. It is a little edgy. I also have one of the first gen Sony SACD players... DVP-NS500V. Both are cheap units, but show the potential of SACD. Digital has never sounded so analog. You should pick something like that up just to try. You might be pleasantly surprised, even with some of the cheap players. One of these days I want to get an upconverting CD player... I hear good things about them.
  5. Hey, Alienpi... what's your take on super audio cd? I personally love it.
  6. OH MAN am I glad I turned it off before the end. I read some of the posts further down here, and I am SOOOO glad I turned it off before it got worse. I might be able to sleep tonight.
  7. X100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000where the fuck is that vomiting smily
  8. Yeah... kinda like that. I know I'm not up to the level of some of these guys around here with major track time, but I have been able to hold my own on the street pretty well. You want to race sometime?
  9. I am glad SOMEONE gets it. BTW, I'm full of shit, and I know it. Trolling trolling trolling... keep those threads all rolling... keep those tempers boiling... I've been trying to earn that sign for a while now. I feel satisfied. I like your bike, btw. The Mean Streak is one of the best looking cruisers ever made.
  10. I dig mine... what specifically do you want to know?
  11. You really have to hear it sometime. They are the definition of clean and FAST. I wish I had some.
  12. Big difference in horsepower. It's a fast straight-line bike. What I'm talking about is the typical cruiser type that has no real intention of RIDING a motorcycle... rather likes to crrrrrruuuuuuuuuise. Half the time, they are riding in a large group at 5 under the speed limit, looking like a gay pirate parade. I pass them all th time, and they usually tell me I'm number one. The metric variety typically love to preach to you about ATGATT, and riding safe, and the public's view of riders, and on and on and on. I started out on those type bikes, but quickly found them limiting. They don't move out. They don't stop fast. They don't turn. They're good for a nice relaxing pace. Nothing wrong with that. However, if you buy a sport bike, you quickly find that there is performance on tap. While I don't ride wheelies or weave in and out of cars in traffic, the bike is able to do amazing things, and I take it up on that once in a while. If you're not getting a little bit wild, you're missing out, you know? Of course you know, you have a V-max. I'll bet there are rubber stripes in front of your driveway somewhere. The point is, the guy didn't actually hurt anyone. If you're judging him for having a little fun, maybe your a stiff and need to live a little. He certainly didn't deserve to be treated like some kind of felon the way he was. Big friggin' deal... so he was speeding a little.
  13. Nothing wrong with cruisers... just find their riders to be of the, uh, less adventurous, low risk type.
  14. Todd #43, You wouldn't happen to ride a cruiser, by any chance, would you?
  15. Cool... looking forward to it. Sounds like most are in the Columbus area?
  16. I agree. I have played in bands for half my life, and know what live music sounds like. It does take a little getting used to once you hear it... it feels like the music is missing a little weight. My first "audiophile" conversion experience was with a pair of electrostatics and a couple high power monoblock amps. I was 14 at the time. I had never heard music sound that clear and dynamic before. It's very difficult to get that with a dynamic cone type speaker. The servo sub has the same dramatic effect. Once you hear it, everything else sounds wrong. The bigger problem in recorded music these days is the production (at least with popular music). It's SOOOO compressed, nothing sounds natural.
  17. I completely agree. I heard an electrostatic system with a servo controlled sub once, and it was beyond clean. Most of us are definitely used to hearing a lot of 2nd and 3rd harmonic distortion in our bass frequencies, which warms (muddies) up the sound. The system I heard was almost too clean. You felt the lowest frequencies as much as you heard them.
  18. There was a lot of Harley bashing on another forum I am on from time to time, and the admin made it so that every time you would type "Harley", it would appear as "Honda"... made for some funny threads. And BTW- smurf you and the Honda you rode in on.
  19. Awesome. I've yet to be enlightened. They turn me into a total a-hole. So, grasshopper, what is the sound of one hand clapping?
  20. I would disagree about the low Xmax driver. I think that TL's have typically been built with lower power drivers due to their mid-high Q properties match up well. The excursion of a TL is similar to that of a sealed box (which requires more linear excursion) down to below the loading point, where it becomes undamped like a ported box. You need a healthy Xmax for a TL. Effiiciency is lower on a TL, especially in the upper bass. A ported box with a woofer suitable for a low tuning frequency will win every time in a quantity contest, but I'll take the TL for the sound quality (just not in my car... I would like to be able to take a pack of gum with me, lol). Heck if you really want SPL, bandpasses give great efficiency (and terrible phase shift and group delay- yuck). How did you go about tuning it?
  21. how did you know? I'll take that as a yes.
  22. So, Schmuckingham... has being on these forums made you meaner?
