  1. I was at the Iron Pony the other day getting a new helmet because my old helmet was getting drafty, and the helmet lady was trying to sell me a Shoei because it's quiet, and I was like, I'm not concerned about quiet, because I wear ear plugs all the time because the wind noise is ridiculous above 50mph (on my bike with just a Puig race screen) and the lady was like it's illegal to wear ear plugs, and I couldn't believe it.  I ended up examining all of the helmets looking for shield seal, vents, fog free features, and eventually walked out with the Scorpion EXO-R710.  The seal on the shield and the lack of fogging is surprising.  Anyhow, I was shocked when I found that it really is illegal to wear ear plugs while riding.

  2. The weather forecast looks nice.  I will be there on the 24th on the CB1000R, in the novice class (haven't done a trackday in years) of course.  I forgot to get a garage spot, so I will see if I can buy a partial spot when I get there.

  3. On the topic of Magnepans… I've had a set of Audeze LCD-2 Rev. 2 non-fazer in Rosewood headphones for over a year now, and I'm amazed at how well they replicate the Magnepan experience, with the addition of subterranean bass that has to be heard to be believed.  So, I guess if your just interested in the Magnepan experience, and want to save a little bit of money the Audeze LCD-2 could be the answer.

  4. Today, I began my 30-day trial for Time Warner before I cancel my Centurylink. The performance is pretty awesome so far. The price for 30Mbps was the same as the Centurylink's 10Mbps (max in my area), so i didn't think it'd hurt to upgrade.

I attached a partial screenshot of some Torrent Downloads. Figured I'd download a few movies to test out my new Internets.

  5. ... while i see the utility in a feature packed casio solar atomic calculator heart monitor altimeter barometer spy-camera vibrator flashlight wrist watch, i definitely get more kicks out of listening to the high speed ticking of a mechanical chrono as i time some stranger going to the bathroom so i can give them that knowing smile when they get back and see that shameful look on their face. some times, i can get them to sniff their hands... you know... just to be sure you got ALL the poop out.

Now that's signature worthy material! I want the casio solar atomic calucular heart monitor altimeter barometer spy-camera vibrator flashlight wrist watch! Never know when you'll be trapped in a plane with a pair of sexy lesbians that are need of the time and a hot video for their blog. :)

  6. Riding a motorcycle is just like driving a car except that above 13 mph you turn left to go right and turn right to go left. You need to get some tank grips on your bike, that way you can hold on with your legs instead of your arms.

  7. I learn a lot at track days, but I learned significantly more at superbike school. Yes, they do go over the same fundamentals at the track day, but the intensity of instruction at the superbike school is far more.

That being said, I increased my speed considerably after each level of superbike school. Trackdays turn out to be practice of all the things I've learned at the superbike school. Now, I find myself with so much information in my riding toolbox that I improve my riding every time I ride because I know how it should be done. As soon as I hit the point where I'm not sure how to go faster, I'll head back to superbike school for another round of level 4.

  8. Ooh shiny! I use chrome all the time, just because when I had a slow computer it was faster. Now that I've upgraded my computer with a new motherboard, processor, case, ram, power supply, extra fans, etc... I just use it because I'm used to it.
