BudDaytonRat replied to BudDaytonRat's topic in Events
For our first year of doing this, I will say it was a success. We raised over $3,400 for this event. If you would like to donate please visit www.tbbf.org 98% of all proceeds go directly to helping Vets. Our ABC and FOX local news stations stopped by and did a little piece about our event. To view their coverage please visit http://www.fox45now.com/shared/news/top-stories/stories/wkef_battle-buddy-foundation-works-get-service-dogs-veterans-21281.shtml?wap=0& -

Thanks Lee. See you Saturday. Please spread the word about this event. The time is 10:00am-4:00pm -
Come to Joe's Cycle Shop on Saturday July 19, 2014 from 1:00-4:00pm and help fill our motorcycle helmets with cash for the Battle Buddy Foundation. Here is some history and more info about the Battle Buddy Foundation. After personally going through the process of being prescribed a service dog by the VA hospital, and then searching for a suitable service dog organization, The Battle Buddy Foundation's founder, Kenny Bass, realized the need for an organization with a focus on the veteran, created from the perspective of a veteran with post traumatic stress....and alongside other veterans and patriots, we were able to create an organization that fills this gap. If you see a need, you should work to meet that need. The Battle Buddy Foundation was Founded by Veterans to Serve Veterans. TBBF will continue our work to serve our nation's heroes, and with your support, we will continue to expand our resources to provide service dogs for veterans, and work to support our veterans by providing the necessary resources and public education to assist with the reintegration back into the civilian world. Be that someone....Join us and make a difference today. www.TBBF.org I hope to some of you at this event. Thanks for your support. Joe's Cycle Shop 3315 N. Drixie Drive Dayton, OH 45414

Two officers one citizen equals a fine. The reason, I'm so smart I got stopped by two state troopers in Wapakoneta, OH last month. They stopped me for going 35 in 25mpg zone. Like you I had no idea the speed limit was 25, I thought it was 35. The officer that came up to me while I was in my truck ask me why I was not wearing my seat belt. I had the belt under my shoulder and showed him I had it buckled. The other officer comes up and started giving me attitude about why they stopped me. Long story short the first officer who was a nice guy said he would let me off with a warning. To my surprise the first officer comes back hands me a ticket for not having my seat belt buckled. I told him I thought I was getting a warning. He said for the speeding not for the seat belt. I considered fighting it because my belt was buckled. I would have to make two trips to Wapa so I just paid the $80 fine. 2 officers equals a fine. Since you have to make a court appearance, I would point out the errors on the ticket. You might win or get a reduced fine. Good luck.

Rolling Stones, Exile On Main St. Rocks Off. I was living in Detroit in 1972 and went to The Stones Concert with my Ex-wife. She fell asleep during the show, we were separated at the time and were trying to work things out. We didn't work things out and I could not wait to put her on the first flight out of Motown.

For those living in the Dayton, OH area and you want to check out a bike night, the Quaker Steak & Lube might be worth a look. My wife and I had dinner there last night and the food and service was excellent. I had not been to the Lube in about a year and haven't been to a bike night in over three years. The Lube use to be the place for bike night until Jack Arse Flats started their bike night on the same night. The Lube moved their bike night to Thursday night and to be honest the ones I went to weren't to hot. The Lube has moved their bike night back to Wednesday night. A fellow Dayton RAT Pack rider attended a couple of the Lubes Bike Night's this riding season and enjoyed it. I spoke to Polly Luttrell, Marketing Activities Coordinator and suggested they start promoting a Euro and Japanese bike night as most of the Harley crowd goes to JAF's. She said she thought that was a good idea and would consider doing it. FYI. The Lube servers are very nice pretty young ladies. I will be attending their bike night tonight and see how it goes. __________________

This is the 4th year that our RAT Pack has put this raid together. Triumph used to do this raid but stopped in 2007. I don't feel the Dragon is overblown but it is too crowed on the weekends and has riders who in my i m h o need to use some motorcycle manners. Slow riders please move over and riders don’t cross the yellow line. I've found the local motorcyclist in that area will show you some great routes and tell you abut good places to eat, visit, etc. Ohiomike, if you want to learn more about this. Please vist britrider.com, www.TheDragonRaid.com and see raid photos at http://photobucket.com/2011DragonRaid .

James, at one time the fastest time through the Dragon was held by a Goldwing. I don't know if that is still the case. Don't kid yourself some riders on Cruisers can can handle the Dragon. Last September during our Triumph Dragon raid it seamed to me that more autos and slow moving bikers moved over or pulled off. On the other hand some of the riders in our group complained about the slow barges not moving over. The main issuse I have is the barges crossing over the yellow line into my lane. Our Triumph Dragon Raid this year is 9/12/11-9/17/11. I put a post in the Event Forum and you can go to Britrider.com for more info. All type bikes are welcome to join the Raid.
