What would you like pictures of?
  2. Well, it's not all that hard, except for the masking on a two tone cast wheel. There are hours of masking involved. What we can do is do it in the first color and partially bake it, let you mask it with the high temp tape and do the second color. For us it would be two times through the oven so about $80 per wheel if you bought the high temp masking tape and masked them yourself. We charge $65 per hour for masking, how ever long that would take. We're pretty darned persnickety, so I'm guessing about 60 to 90 minutes per wheel. As you see, that can add up quickly. so many people take them home and mask while watching TV or whatever and bring them back for completion. If you wanted, we could then clear coat them so the line wouldn't be able to be felt and the colors would be deeper. That's about $40 per wheel extra. We do a lot of show work, so we're used to weird requests.

Powder can't be touched up, really, trust me. We do it for a living. BUT, for about $1.29 you can go to your local hobby shop and pick up "Testor Model Paint". It's designed for plastic (which is what your powder is), is available in hundreds of colors (likely one to match your powder), and is oil based so it will also protect the metal where you chipped the powder so you don't get the ugly rusties showing up. Buy a painting file (really, there is such a thing used to file down runs) and that will make it so flat you'll never find it without getting within a foot of it. Give the paint about two weeks to dry before using the painting file thing or you'll just have to start over again.
  4. If you need a close powder coater that is near Dayton, give us a call. 937-322-1661 - Classic Vehicle Services or visit us at the Dayton or Columbus bike fests coming up later this year.
  5. We're in Springfield and have a 6 X 6 X 6 walk in oven. We can easily do 8 feet on the diagonal. Just got done with Ford F-350 bumpers, hitch, and tow hooks.
  6. Bikes 2 NV is excellent. They are over on the east side.
  7. Won't void your warranty if it's done by a quality shop. We do the work for several HD dealers and do bikes before delivery frequently. We even do rims in HD orange and spokes in HD black and the opposite combination.
  8. We own a powder coating shop in Springfield and properly applied it's .005 to .010 at the most. 2 pounds of powder will totally coat a pickup truck bed inside and out. We did every single part on a custom chopper (in black wrinkle, not my look, but it looked good if it's what you wanted) and used 1.1 pounds to cover quite literally everything. Also properly done, all threaded components are covered, all fluid touching surfaces are covered before powdering, etc. The amount of metal you take off to surface the metal will easily be equal to or greater than the amount of weight.
  9. We own a powder coating business in Springfield. If you want the whole wheel in one color it's 75 after blasting costs. We stock 80 colors. We can show you many wheels we've done for other people and see if it's what you want. 1 year satisfaction warranty on everything we do. If you're not happy, we'll do it again in the same color at no charge. Our phone number is 937-322-1661 and we do NO production or commercial work, just bikes and cars.
  10. Thank you and I'll still be laughing tomorrow. Now, I have two Kawasaki F-6's that one runs and the other one has a title, so all you have to do is take the engine out of the one and put it in the other....... Did I mention the storage since 1975?
  11. Wow, that's an idea. I thought hard about starting a "rent a wreck" for college students. Even did a thesis on the idea. I just never brought it to fruition. I'd talk to a lawyer about the liability issues involved. Of course you'd have to verify motorcycle license and insurance..... I'll tell you what I'd like that was similar. A motorcycle rental place. I'd love to have been able to try a Yamaha Virago for a weekend before buying it. Or a Harley, or..... I would be happy to pay say $50.00 per day and $0.50 per mile or something like that for a premium bike, maybe a little less for a lesser bike..... Give a yell if I can help or if you want to bounce ideas off.
  12. Well, I hadn't ever heard of this page until I was told my my sand blaster friend that it exists. We are another powder coater in Springfield and had to clear some air. Appears there are a number of riders in here, so figure we may as well hang out and see what happens. Both my wife and I ride, we are life long BMWMOA members and have just joined the Yamaha club as well. Always looking for a nice long cruise somewhere. 500 miles per day is about right for us. We don't hurry too much, but always enjoy the ride anyway.
  13. And there appear to be more than one powder coater in Springfield. Classic Vehicle Services does powder coating in Springfield, and has been doing it for more than 5 years with many happy customers. We actually take time to spend with our customers finding out what they want. Had you been our customer, we would have dedicated a quantity of powder from the same exact lot code to your job, and we'd write your name on that container. Any time for the next year that you brought us anything, we'd use "your powder" to guarantee the same exact color. We have a simple warranty. If you don't like it, we'll re-do the part in the same color for 1 year. We will do it until you are happy, and until we are happy. We have many customers who will be happy to give us referrals. Feel free to give us a call at 937-322-1661 at any time. Now, with that said, when referring to a business, please have the decency to name the business, so that you don't make broad sweep comments that take in businesses other than the one you intend to mention. And if possible, list your name and phone number to give the business a chance to make the job right
