I ran a set on my Ducati SS last year and they SUCK really badly for any type of aggressive riding. Commuting is great because they're about as hard as your tank is. The profile is very squared and the compound is shitty too. If you're broke, get some take-offs from someone to get you through.
I've got an Icon leather that I went down in twice in the last two years and I ride in all weather. The left side and back are missing dye, but the rain doesn't do anything worse to it. I say leave it as is, Sharpie that bitch, or buy a new one.
If you're in the Cincinnati area...go down to Northern Kentucky. Roads to check out (all KY ST RTs): 915 10 22 1504 539 165 227 (I think...or 222, not sure) Assfault Junkies MC ride these roads weekly.
I like Sport Tour in the West Chester area. They do all types of gear and can/will order you anything you want. The guys there are very cool and helpful too. If you're into Scorpion stuff, try HOLLOWPOINTRACING and talk to Ryan Realey. He's an AFJ guy that is awesome to deal with.
