Yea I know about the not going into safety unless its cocked but I even tried holding the hammer down it still wouldn't go into safety

I was looking to buy a kimber 1911 but when I was looking it over I couldn't get the hammer to stay cocked I tried it with the mag in out I tried it with in the head it just won't and i can't get the safety on anybody know what's wrong with it?
