  1. People travel that road at differing speeds, whatever they feel safe at. Anybody screwing with other riders, well that just makes it more dangerous for everyone. That road leaves very little room for a mistake. My first time I wasn't even looking at the speedo. And I was in a line of other, bigger bikes like Gold Wings, and what looked to be big Yamahas or Kaws, so the Harleys aren't the only slow movers on the Dragon. But in talking with some of the other hd riders having other bikes roaring up on them can be pretty unnerving, and frankly, it really pisses many of them off. Then I'm betting they're calling those riders 'dicks'

  2. So, are you looking, or ignoring?

You posted the question so I thought I'd see what kind of price you offered. But I'll just get it elsewhere if its a problem.

Btw, tell Mike thanks for the deal on the cardo scalia. Looking forward to using it this riding season!

Good luck with your new position.

  3. What kind of price??

Tour Master Select 14 Liter Magnetic Tank Bag.

Length cannot be longer, in fact something closer to 8" L with a good place for a map would be more ideal, but I think I can make the other work ok......

  4. If you want to make sure she has a good time make sure you plan to be back to your hotel by dark. Riding on the roads down there at night on a motorcycle doubles the intimidating factor.

Good idea. I'll probably come to the bonfire with her riding 2 up to make it easier. I hadn't thought about the fact that when we were there years back we only did daylight rides, and on some of those roads that was bad enough...lol

  5. I see its like 1.5 hrs or so. Kind of splitting the difference by staying in MV. Since the wife is riding her own, and this is her first trip, trying to keep the initial ride down time wise. That and the cost is half of what Fontana is offering and probably cheaper than Cherokee, at least for something clean...lol. Wife is adament about not riding the Dragon herself, so am just trying to find some good riding for her that is in her comfort level. Planned on riding the Cherohola Skyway so that bbq joint you mention might just work out. I've had some other suggestions from locals down there, just need to zero in on those roads. Our return trip will be up most of the BRP, probably jumping on I-64 @ Buena Vista and scooting on the slab home. That route looks to be 5 or 6 hours (Buena V. to Circleville).

Lets just hope for a few dry days.....6-3 thru the 16th.....probably a pipe dream.....lol

    Thanks.

  6. So, whats up with the good bbq eats I read someone talking about? Down on 28 in Georgia?

And when is the bonfire starting at the firepit Sat?

Looking at the map seems its a pretty easy route between Fontana and Maggie Valley. Riding back late at night after some mind altering relaxents I want it to be EZ....lol

Iirc, cell service down there can be spotty at best. Having a few different peoples numbers might come in handy too....not wanting any 'Deliverance' kind of surprises....lol

  7. The big thing on the radio was these things:

    1. Rushing and taking shortcuts to meet time requirements

    2. Steel imported from China that is just crap and not made well like American Steel

    :dunno:

Steel today is just not of the same integrity. When we lost all the steel industry to the offshore along with it went quality. All the 're manufacturing' of scrap steel has to effect its strength among other things, or so I'm told.

  8. It almost never rains and I live 15 mins from the mountains, I'd say it's a rider's paradise ;)

*Edit* AND WE CAN LEGALLY LANE SPLIT HERE!...I'll never go back, lol.

Yeh, I know it'd would be great riding in some locales out there. I's just kiddincha anyways...

As to living there, probably a no go for me. But the job, man I wish that were local to me here.

Good luck, and enjoy the ride!
