  1. My original post was simply making the point the Motorcyclist was throwing around all this marketing drivel that Ducati had invented a new catagory and other horse hockey. The Griso was there first not to mention V-Max and the V-rod (sortof.) With euro 3 going to 4 and coming to America soon, there won't be any air cooled motors soon because the the detuning required to meet the standards has all the bikes running so lean most of the horsepower will soon be going to running the water pumps that will be needed. But while you can still get one, having spent too much of my time and money dealing with cooling system repairs, (draining refilling, thermostats, pumps, head gaskets, hoses etc., etc) any bike I was planning on keeping for awhile would have to be air cooled.

It has to be the crassest thing in the world to quote yourself, but since everyone else is doing it, then I guess it is OK... to wit

"Many in the media define the Diavel's marketing position by claiming it's Ducati's version of a Yamaha VMax or Harley Davidson V-rod, fitting it into the muscle-cruiser sub-catagory, whatever that is. But maybe it should be thought of more as competing with the Moto Guzzi Griso 1200 8V.... But if you step outside of today's narrow niche rules and expectations of what a bike has to be and remember that Moto Guzzi used to win road races... then maybe the Diavel is just a motorcycle.." 2. Is there a Transgendered track day discount? That segment of the population is highly underrepresented too. I'd wear a dress if I'd get discounted track time...:ilikebikes:

Chicks riding bikes at a track day is a form of transgenderism. (is that a word?) They're just doing it to get the feeling of all that power between their legs as a substitute for a penis.

  3. I fight all my tickets. I have beat tickets in Boston Heights, (infamous) and many others. You beat most of them before you go to court by seeking discovery, issuing supeanas and excercising your other rights, but I have also gotten suspended fines and other negotiated deals with prosecutors. It is a little extra work, but can be fun too.

  4. Hey guys and gals I am in the North West Ohio area. Name is Doug. I ride every moment I can. If you want to ride or join up on a ride hit me up. 419-262-2608. I am not a noob to the site. just trying to get some of us NWO aka Lucas, Wood, Fulton, Henry, and Hancock counties

Only the earh is flat people live up there. Too boring...unless you ride a Ural in which case the excitement is will I make it home?

  5. well the search is on for sure now. aiming to purchase, used, end of spring if not earlier...

recon rat has stellar resources for us lady types. thank you so much.

i still want to sit on a guzzi and see what its like

The last lady who sat on mine said she loved the feeling of all that power between her legs. You are welcome to try it too.

  6. Man you guys with you fancy bags and what not. I sport tour on a naked sport bike. with a 24 inch duffel bag(I made it custom by adding some bungy cords) This pic is from a 3700 mile 5 day road trip to Suches Ga. We hit lots of rain on the trip makes for a pretty bike!!

Innovating a solution is always cool. I have done my share of Jed Clampett touring but now that I do tons of it, I opted for something more convenient.

  7. I have a 2004 Yamaha R6 that is running a little rough at stop lights "when it wants too"... What happens is when i come to a stop light my RPM's fluctuate from 1000 down to 200 and almost wants to stall (only every now and then). I am being told maybe i need my valves adjusted? Talked to the people that took over Hines MotorSports on 23 and they told me about $300. Anyone have any ideas if this is where i should start, and if it is, is $300 a fair price?

Yours does not sound like valves but is this really what it costs for a simple valve adjustment? I know the shim under bucket is more trouble than screw and locknut but WOW!. I can do the valve adjustment on my Guzzi with common hand tools and .75 hour labor.

  8. lists of motorcycle seat heights,

    http://www.vtwinmama.com/motorcycle_seat_heights.htm

    http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/school-SectionTwoB.htm

edit: quick calculation, at 5'2", if you want to flat foot a bike. I'd start looking around at a 28" seat height and higher.

    Guzzi V7 is 31.7

    Guzzi Griso is 31.5

    Virago is 28.3

Her height would not be the limiting factor. I would have to make a very slow and deliberate measurement of her inseam to know if the seat height were a problem;)

  9. The other dealers are up North. All Seasons in Wooster is a great dealer. Speakers are wonderful folks too, but have had a little falling out with Guzzi. Other than warranty work, he is a great choice. Lexington and Louisville have dealers too. Full Throttle Yamaha is the dealer in Cleveland. My first experience with them was good, although when all you have is oil changes, plugs and valve adjustments to worry about, I do my own.

  10. Ummmm.... They cost the same and the Guzzi has 50 fewer horsepower. I don't hate Moto Guzzi but, c'mon.

  11. This has the lightened fly wheel, so the longitudinal crankshaft effect of accelerating the engine and having it want to lean over from the torque created by the shaft spinning up is small. It is 48 HP but a very flat torque curve starting low meaning when fast pacing through the twisties you can do almost all of your braking and accelerating with just the throttle. A fun, comfortable ride on a machine that when it comes to maintenace is "forgetaboutit". It will run forever. You might want to get the spicey red frame one which is more faithful to the original V7.

Like I said, Air cooled (water and oil don't mix), dry clutch (clean oil), shaft drive (clean bike), 50+ MPG and run forever, what's not to like?
