  1. There was a really nice LB Mono Commanche for sale w/ a ridiculous price. Too bad I don't have the cash. http://www.1911addicts.com/showthread.php?997-For-Sale-Baer-Monolith-Commanche
  2. Very Nice LB. They're starting to appeal to me more and more. Especially the monolith line.
  3. That's the right address. But it's still invite only.

Thanks! We'll see how she will hold up. Might go hard chrome or melonite down the road.

The frame fit came from Remsport, while the rest came from Brownells.com. And the mainspring housing came from Guncrafter Industries. Parts came in at around $1,100.

Here it is. It just came back from the media blaster last night. It was blasted with 220 grit glass beads. I'm really liking the matte finish and texture. without light. with TLR-1 light. bevel magwell and round butt. rear slide blend.
  8. Thanks. It's a sweet pistol. Looking to get another M&P model.
  9. Looking to sell my M&P9. Pistol is chamber is 9mm with a 4.25" barrel. No thumb safety, but does have mag release safety. This is barely used w/ about 250 rounds thru it. Finish is in great condition. I'm the original owner and will come with the following: • factory S&W box • all papers • 4 factory S&W 16-round mags • lock Would like to do this local FTF $465. Or can ship on your dime, from my FFL to your FFL.
  10. I've read stories where they will warranty the gun to the second owner.
  11. I've riden the Duc and it's nowhere near as heavy as this gixxer.
  12. I have a friend that just picked up an 05 GSXR600, and it looked like the prior owner FUBAR the clutch cable install. It still works, but the routing is all jacked up, so the pull is just stupid heavy. Anyone have a picture of their 05 and how the cable should route? Thanks for the help!

Thanks! I was debating back and forth about the front part of the slide. And here were the options: But in the end, I'm going to stick to my original plan and leave it as is. I really like the slab slide. Just need to find a holster for it. Might need to call up Raven Concealment and get a custom kydex. I have a friend that has a STI Edge in 9mm, and that's a fun double-stack to shoot. Have you looked at any of the STI stuff?

Update to the build. So a couple of weeks ago, I got mostly everything together. Flared and bevel the magwel: Before: After: Also blended the frame/slide/ejector/extractor and top of the beavertail: A little more blending of the bottom of the beavertail: Finished and functional: I still need to decide which final finish treatment: bead blast or melonite. Complete Parts list: Remsport stainless rail frame Remsport stainless slab slide Remsport stainless barrel/link and bushing Wolff spring kit Wilson stainless spring plug Wilson stainless tactical ambi thumb safety Wilson stainless pin set Wilson stainless bulletproof extractor Wilson stainless extended ejector EGW stainless spring guide EGW stainless beavertail grip safety EGW stainless 9mm/38 super firing pin EGW stainless oversize firing pin EGW stainless mag catch Ed Brown stainless mag catch lock Harrison stainless plunger tube Harrison tactical ignition set; hammer, sear, disconnector 10-8 stainless slide stop 10-8 black solid rear sight 10-8 flat trigger Novak tritium front sight Guncrafter Industry mainspring housing VZ Frag grips Brownells grip bushings and screws And went to the range to test her out. The gun is still breaking itself in. The barrel lock up is tight, and had a few failure to return to battery. A few times, I had to tap the slide back into battery. Total round count on this build is about 100. Sights are nice with the Novak tritium front and 10-8 rear. Front sight height is 0.190" and it's hitting POA. And here's about 30 rounds at 7 yards. 230gr PMC ammo. I'm really digging the flatten 15lpi on both the FSC and MSH. The VZ Frag grips gives great texture and retention w/o being too aggressive.
  16. +1 on this. To add, if you're not practicing with your draw and fire, then you're carrying an expensive paper weight.
  17. +1 on this. Very important to have a good mentor.
  18. Most of the time, it's IWB with this, Milt Sparks Versa Max 2: Or if it's OWB, I use Raven Concealment System Phantom: I'm a lefty, so I only carry at the 8:30-9:00 position. It's a lot more comfortable. There's a reason why some of the top trainers don't carry at 5 or 7 o'clock...if you fall to your back, it's a lot harder to get to your gun. Plus there's always a chance to f-ed up your spine w/ landing on your gun.
  19. Nice RIA. Yes, the GI is a really nice deal for a basic 1911. As for the mag issue, springs only wears when they are constantly pressed and depressed. And that's a lot of cycling for them to wear. So keeping them in a constant state doesn't do anything to them. It's the same thing for the springs on your bike...do you unload your forks and shock when you don't ride your bike? There are stories of guys finding 1911's from their grandfather, and finding that their mags were loaded from the 1930's. Took them out and they ran fine. My mags are always fully loaded and haven't had any issues with them.
  20. Nice. Congrats on the RO. It's a great shooter. I will eventually ad it to my Springfield collection. If you don't like the rear sight, look into Harrison Custom's rear sight replacement for the RO/TRP pistols from SA.
  21. Buy once, cry once. The Taurus is not the brand you want for a 1911. They have some really horrible reviews by owners. And their quality sucks. Honestly, do you want to buy a gun from a manufacture that does something like this? If you want a quality 1911, then save and get the one you want. Don't just waste money by settling for something subpar. Or if you must, look at Rock Island or ATI for a budget 1911. Those have great track record. They're around $450-$500, depending on where you look.
