That's not always the case. Check the vacuum line to the petcock. A lot of fuel cocks require vacuum to actuate the diaphram inside.

need a hand. 85cb450 nighthawk. was not getting fuel to the carbs. I thought petcock as the was no flow when it was turned to the on position. I purchased the rebuild kit and carefully installed it. Still nothing. I also attached a funnel to the carb fuel line, 1/2 cup of gas & it ran just fine.

My question is should fuel flow free from the petcock when turned on or do the carbs suction it out?

Not much experience with the older ones.

Just for good measure:

1. Remove tank, make sure its full

2. Drop tank on roommate's balls when sleeping

3. Re install tank

I used to sell cars, & yes 80% of the industry is filled with scumbags. Dealership screwed up, they needed to chalk it up as a mistake. Not sure how they convinced police to arrest him tho... Can you just walk into a station, claim theft & they pick the person up? Did they provide evidence? That could be scary if its that easy.
