  1. I've been riding 34 years. My biggest bike until just 4 weeks ago was a 550. Now I have a BMW R90. I've ridden a 'busa; those are only intended for racing. Does the kid want to be a bike-owning poser or a biker? If he wants to be a biker he will be mature, get only the bike he needs and ride. Posers are walking among us for other reasons/needs. I regret that I have no advice for keeping the kid safe as sense is needed. Some people have to piss on the electric fence to learn.

  2. Welcome to OR. I highly suggest that you replace brake lines, and bleed and check pads. Check tire date code; if over 6 years old...replace, or replace if checked. These things will kill you if not attended to and with a bike that's 10 years old I bet they need to be checked.

  3. This is a timely thread. I was just at the CVG carshow in New Albany, OH. I noticed that the awards classes were not equitable. Examples:

    Cars had

    Best of '50, '60, '70

    Best Camaro

    Best Mustang

    Best Chevrolet

    Best Lambo

    Best Ferrari

    People's Choice Award

Not equitable as there was a very nice Cougar, it could have won best of '70 or people's choice award, but there was not a best Mercury...

    Motorcycles had

    Best Custom

    Best Harley-Davidson

    Best Sport Bike

    People's Choice Award

There was a nice little restored stock CB350 that could only have won the People's Choice award, which it did. If there was a Best H-D, why was there not a Best Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki etcetera.

Also, I don't know how anyone won the people's choice awards as the people didn't get a vote sheet to submit.

I learned a lot while paying attention to how the categories were stacked.

  4. Just transfered from Tejas (Army)

    I ride:

    1985 Moto Morini K2

    1982 Yamaha XJ550 Seca

    1975 Suzuki GT380

    1975 Honda CB450 DOHC

    1975 Yamaha RD250

    1973 Yamaha RD350

    And occasionally a 1908 H-D board tracker

I love Ohio so far and the few rides I've taken have been beautiful. I am shocked at how many riders are here riding w/out gear.
