  1. The bars won't buzz with the rubber mounted engine the bike feels very smooth once above idle. The problem is the short travel rear suspension.

it won't absorb much in the rear and the jolts go right up your spine. After you get used to riding it, I recommend a set of good, and longer, shocks. Progressive make some at a reasonable price.

  2. Rode one this summer. I have to admit I had low expectations and I was comparing it to my 950 and also to my (sold) MTS 1200.

REALLY liked the big girl! Very smooth, good power -- better low end than my 950, not maniac fast like the MTS -- has a just right feel to it. Good seated ergonomics and comfortable seat. Big tall thing though!

  3. love both my KTMs. They're both dirt bikes and take some maintenance to keep up with. But anything you get dirty and want to continue to perform takes this, and that applies to my DR 650 as well.

This thing? Will have to wait and see how the 1290 pans out. I won't be an early adopter

but I know lots of the faithful will be!

  4. Bubba, thanks for a great ride! Super roads there in NKY, and Bubba and Dice are top notch tour guides. Zach and I had a good slab ride -- and we will be back.

ok, the KTM had to take a dirt detour and then a bit of a nap -- I'll clean out the mud in her teeth tomorrow...

Danielle, you missed a great ride -- next time!

  5. ok, thanks Bubba. let's stick with your original plan, meeting at noon at the mcd on Dixie. Should be a blast.

After the ride, the Cinti Dualsport group is having their monthly meet at Golden Corral in Springdale. I'll be hittin that.

    Ninjaman, are you coming?

  6. Some bikes get put up, some bikes I keep ready to ride. Depends on what they need in projects/maintenance and what I've planned to ride. The 950 is my go-to winter machine and I like to do the dirt down south all winter.

  7. Sounds really good. Bitani, if we can get out a little earlier, that would be awesome. Give us more time in the daylight -- it gets dark out early these days! If we start down there at noon, ride 5 hours, our ride back will be at least partially in the dark.

We could go either west or east to make that (early) part of the ride a lil more interesting. The 75 slab just sux, there's nothing to recommend it, except when you've just gotta be somewhere in a hurry. Like getting home in the friggin dark...

I'll be on the 9-fitty. Winter bike. Good for gravel, banjos, whatever ails ya!
