OMRL 2016 OMRL Racing Starts this SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY!
soad replied to turnone's topic in Track is Crack
been thinking about getting into this NSR50 stuff, but holy crap, i can't find one at all! where should i be looking to purchase an NSR50? i went to circleville once with a friend of mine who had an nsr50 and let me ride it, it was pretty fun and cheap, and all the fundamentals are the same, learning on a budget! -
Sorry size 48 suit! I wear a size 42 regular people suit and didn't notice the different sizing!
-
Imgur album here: http://imgur.com/a/yrd6s The suit is in good condition, i fell off an nsr50 going like ten wearing it. I wore it about 4 trackdays, but i bought it used. very comfortable suit. $150 OBO Vega Sport II boots, size 12. Worn 4 trackdays. theres a wear mark on the side of the boot from rubbing on my bike otherwise excellent condition. $65 OBO Alpinestars size large Bionic Air. I actually only wore this once. Like new condition, it fit great and i liked it a lot. i'm looking to get a back+chest protector vest. $100 OBO Alpinestars GP Plus gloves size XL Worn 4 track days. Excellent condition. barely broken in. $100 OBO Any questions, feel free to ask! E-mail will probably get a quicker response. gixxersixxxer@yahoo.com

I'd rather not run the warmers if I can, to be honest. I was thinking of putting them up for sale.

Great advice guys. I'll message hoblick and see about getting my forks freshened up with proper springs. And for $50 I'll just buy an 08 shock and do the same with that as well. What about tires?
-
Thats good to know. any recommendations on pads?
-
Sorry, I meant 210 without my riding gear on. I have all that stuff. good stuff, too! Safety first! I plan to do as much trackdays as possible this year, too. There's a lot i have to learn. i just want something that can remain constant and reliable underneath me. i went three years with slush suspension on the f4i and having an acceptable suspension is important.

Let me preface with some info about me. 5'10 210lbs, new to intermediate class with STT. So i recently bought a 2006 ZX6r, and its pretty much stock. I am coming off an 03 F4i with terribly stock and neglected suspension, and the first thing i'd like to do is get this suspension tuned up. i'm ballin on a budget so fancy pants ohlins stuff is a no go, but i heard 08 rear shock will bolt right up, and is a definite improvement. for $50 for a stock one off ebay, i figured even if its nominally better, i should go with it. i can't find much information about the forks, however. so if someone could shed some light into improving them, whether or not its worth it to find 08 forks too? racetech offers cartridge things, but i'm not well versed in the goings on on the inside of these forks. so i'm pretty apprehensive about what i need. i'd also like to get these components sent out for a refresh and rebuild by someone who knows that they're doing. I'm a mechanic by trade, but i fix cars. not revalve forks. who do i need to contact to get this stuff serviced? i'm 210 on a good day with no gear so i'm pretty sure i need springs too. i also heard the brakes on this thing are pretty terrible? i like stopping, so....recommended plans of attack here? should i be okay with some SS lines and i would like suggestions on pads. there seems to be a wide variety of pads and i'd rather not invest my hard earned in unnecessary overkill. i had EBC HH pads on my f4i and they seemed well enough? as a rider, i tend to hit the brakes earlier than i should, and this season this is something i want/need to work on, so having full confidence in my stopping abilities would be pretty neat to have...i heard vesrah RJL would be a good choice? also the bike came with tire warmers, but i don't feel like im at that level quite yet. i had pilot power pures on my f4i and i loved them. but seeing as how now i have a dedicated track machine, i'd like to get a mo' better tire. suggestions? power supersport or power one? any other pretty important things i should look at? any weaknesses to this zx6r mechanically? i'm going to get some stompgrips too. Any help is much appreciated, guys! Thanks in advance!

My f4i's bar end broke. the part that the screw threads into that inserts all the way into the clip on broke. part 8 on a parts schematic...so i figure now is a good time to upgrade! :) what are some good brands? i did some quick searches and found only bar end sliders that will thread into my broken piece. i would like to get something that isn't billet, or carbon fiber, or spiked.

Oh, well I've got a buddy going to Putnam, and I'd like to check that track out, its closer. About that intermediate....how do you tell when its time to upgrade a class? They aren't telling me anything I don't already know during the class time in novice, and they start off at a pace much slower than I am prepared to go, I feel like I am getting half a trackdays worth out of it. however, some of the guys in Intermediate are way faster than me. I'll definitely be a slower guy in I, or a faster guy in N....so I'm not sure what I should do. Advice?
-
why not putnam? whats so special about gratton?
-
I'm going to do both days. Thinking about bumping up to Intermediate. Thoughts? It'll be my third track day and with Novice group theres usually only a couple guys that I can't at least keep up with, who were on their last Novice track day before bumping up. I feel like I'll be a slow guy in I though. I'm just tired of paying so much to ride on a track and getting held up because of the pace. Also first time with STT and at Putnam.

Cool, thanks, I appreciate it.

I could stand to borrow that C tool thing used to adjust rear suspensions... That thing, or something similar, if anybody has one?
-
Thanks guys for the info. I was really worried about the track, honestly. My bike is old and has stock shitty suspension. I just won't push it as hard as I did at Mid-O. You guys are awfully nice, too. Seem like a good group of guys. Just so you guys know, I remain undefeated at gay chicken. Me and my buddy will hopefully be showing up, and we both enjoy showering. Sometimes together, you know, water and time conservation.........but thanks for offering a stranger a place to lay his head for the night. Whats the alcohol policy at Nelson? not while riding, obviously, but i'm thinking about sticking around to watch some racing, and the meet and greet thing you guys were talking about.

Alright, sounds good. Looking at hitting it up May 4th. Recommend anything to bring? I'm just gonna rent a U haul trailer and probably stay the night friday at a hotel. Where is the cheapest place nearby?
-
I keep on hearing conflicting stories about Nelson Ledges track quality. I'm on the fence about doing a track day there, it'll be my 2nd one ever. On the plus side, its the closest to me(aside from Mid-O, but I can't make a monday or tuesday track day, assholes), and the cheapest. However, from pics and videos I see, it looks like I'll be in for a rough, rough ride. I'm from Michigan and I don't see roads that look as bad as this TRACK. Does the track condition inhibit riding, and having fun? Most importantly fun.

Here is a map of the track: http://www.blackhawkfarms.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/trackmap.jpg And thats what i'm thinking. I'm not like some pro racer or anything like that, but i feel like the clinic would be a novice track day with more coaches to watch you and less seat time, but for a lot more money, and i'm all about the value. At the mid-o track day i went to, the rider coaches had small classes and sort of "guided" things to work on as the day progressed, and allowed us to pick their brains, and would even watch you specifically for a lap or so if you asked them to. they were very helpful.

...............................Definitely just PM'ed the wrong person..........

http://www.motovid.com/programs-faqs/clinics/ Blackhawk Farms out near chicago offers this thing called a rider clinic, the link offers an in depth description of it. I'm thinking of going to it, a friend of mine lives in the area and wants me to go with him. I was just wondering if any of you guys have been to anything like this before, and if its worth it. it costs $250 and it says you run 5 15 minute sessions concentrating on drills and whatever it is you learned in the classroom before the sessions. I've only ever been to one track day at mid ohio(which was amazing) and definitely plan on doing more, but is the extra cost of this worth it, you think?

Guys.....guys......listen....I have a really silly question....How do i register for a track day with motoseries? I want to go to nelson ledges the first saturday of may. Novice class, of course.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_EdGvjGIyo That is my bike in first gear with the wheel off the ground, and me moving it back and forth. I am pretty sure that this is not supposed to happen, it even SOUNDS like the clunk. Any ideas? Also, sorry for video quality, my camera is a potato.
